Erik the Red reports from Coney Island

Erik Denmark has written a report about his experience in last week’s Nathan’s finals which includes some interesting information about Joey Chestnuts counters:

I heard from someone who was watching Joey on stage that he was eating from multiple plates at the same time. This was more than likely a ploy to make it difficult for Kobayashi to determine where Chestnut’s actual numbers were at. This was a brilliant tactic by Joey because not only did it confuse Kobayashi, the judges totally messed up his count as well. Joey maintained at least a 3-5 hot dog lead throughout the competition. Joey’s counter was off by as many as 5 hot dogs for the entire second half of the contest when it looked like Kobayashi was catching up. The contest was never tied, not even close. Joey cleared his mouth with amazing ease in about 10 seconds after his final stuff, partly because he was so infuriated with his judge for screwing up his count, he wanted to tell him. If you read Joey’s lips he can be seen clearly telling his counter that his count was off by five repeadtedly when he clears his mouth at the end of the contest.

If Brian Subich finished last with 21 he would not hear the end of it from the jokers on this blog site. They would claim his 27 in Philly was a fluke which they have done already. Notice that noone mentions anything about the two last place finishers having possible inflated totals in their previous qualifiers. It’s always knock Subich knock Subich

Brian Subich is the wrong man to mess with. Those that cross him seem to do it at a distance.

As such, there’s a dichotomy. They are smart enough not to insult him in person, yet they’re dumb in that they let their mouths write checks that their a**es can’t cash.

Rhonda the organization he strongly supports can be guilty of the same.. He has never said a bad word about anyone in the IFOCE and he constantly gets the short end of the stick. As far as people in general bad mouthing him . let us go down the line in the IFOCE ranking system. One punch from Subich would flatten any eater ranked 1-50 with the possible exception of Rios and Larue. That is a fact. BTW the same holds true for all members of the AICE.

Why would Big Brian punch someone? I’ve met him several times and he’s a nice guy. He’s a football coach…he takes out his aggression on the field and at the table.

the great thing about this site and any site is that anyone can safely badmouth anyone like i crapped on larue a few weeks ago and i would never be that stupid if he was in front of me

I don’t use whether or not someone can flatten me with one punch as a guideline to speak my mind. If I did have a problem, I would voice it regardless. If someone had a problem with me and voiced their opinion, they can expect that I wouldn’t resort to flattening them out either, which I do have the ability of doing. I don’t see how this ability has any merit in the statements being made. It is sad when you have to say these things, instead of an intelligent response like “I also have times where I can do 27 HDB’s in 12 minutes one day, and 19 the next” or one like Mega Munch’s last time. But, like last time, here comes Rhonda basically saying ‘Brian can kick your ass so shut up’ and anonymous, right afterwards, AGAIN like a freakin sheep, saying the same thing. Pityful.

anony (I’ll respond because you make sense) I totally agree. Yes MM he is a really nice guy. That makes all the more reason why I’d almost like to see him do a 180 when he is treated inappropriately. That would really give me a rise … or .. well .. a … you know. 🙂

The whole hot dog thing is over. Some times you have good days and bad days. Sywhat you want, but if you don’t know the circumstances keep your mouths shut. I did 23 HDBs in Hatford and fell to 17 at QVC. Why, because when I went to QVC, I worked a double shift the day before and wasn’t feeling well, but chose to compete anyway. It’s not an excuse just the fact. So if you are going to bad mouth someone, at least know the situation first.
