It’s interesting that the ballots are public for this, thanks for the love.
Also, it’s blasphemy to not have Kobayashi in the top 5. Really guys?

Johnnie, I agree about Kobayashi. Joey is the only eater at his level—-past or present. I could see Tim or Bob (both who were ranked above Koby) shittin’ bricks if Koby happened to show up for a contest either of them counted on winning.
The same could be said for Sonya and Pat, but Sonya would be happy to see him out of friendship and respect.

I’ll say one thing for Gentleman Joe. He’s probably a better judge of talent and rankings than any other single person, even back in the speedeat.com days. He’s a realist and gives credit where credit is due. That’s admirable.

I thought Stephanie was endearing, appreciated her excitement of competitive eating, and understood that a local eating challenge at Denny’s is not exactly Nathan’s on the Fourth of July. Now, I find out she voted for herself as the top competitive eater? Girl that takes balls. Sonya needs to take this Stephanie to lunch to celebrate her new status as top eater. My hat goes off to all the eaters who voted with a little modesty and reality in mind such as Johnnie and the Gentleman.

This is a great first effort and we hope you can keep it up! It is very important to have the votes made public to ensure integrity, and so that others can knowledgeably discuss problems & issues. The AP ballots for college football and basketball are made public, for example: http://www.pollspeak.com/pollstalker/pollstalker.php?r=F&s=14&p=29. I hope others get on board here so that this can develop into a well-rounded and consensus poll.

Yes, I voted for myself as number one, knowing that my vote would be public and also knowing that I am clearly not number one. I did this to prove a point: that voters should be prohibited from voting for themselves. Of course, I don’t believe there was a way for OJ to implement this feature, so this is not a criticism of him. I am speaking from a more theoretical perspective.
stephanie_wu said (Registered August 17, 2010)

(As a side note: anyone who wanted to win could have simply created numerous registered user accounts and voted for him- or herself multiple times, which I didn’t do.)

A public ballot is an interesting concept. Our government textbooks always remind us that having a secret vote is the best way to ensure integrity and mitigate forms of public intimidation.
I like the project as a whole. Hats off to OJ for putting it together. This was definitely a lot of work.
Hmmm… I wonder how different things would be if our elections for president utilized a public ballot. LOL.

Naader – you raise an interesting point, but there is of course a fundamental difference between a popularity poll like this one and a vote for political office. In politics, the goal is to encourage as many people as possible to vote free from persecution or any scrutiny whatsoever. There are also controls in place (registration) that help to ensure that each person votes only once. In that context, and given the political history of the US, the reasons for having a private vote to ensure participation in the democratic process are obvious.
In contrast, with this type of poll, or any sports poll or really any web poll for that matter, there is an overriding concern about preventing people from artificially modifying the results. With anonymity, it is too easy for someone to vote multiple times and skew the vote. Although it is true that revealing the votes will discourage some from voting because, for whatever reason, they don’t want their choice to be known publicly, it helps to guarantee a more true/fair result.
This is probably not as artfully stated as it could be, but hopefuly the point makes sense.

Don Sturdy, you stated the differences well. I was just a bit surprised when I noticed the public voting process. It is important to curtail the impact of dishonest voting practices online. My only concern on a forum such as eatfeats is that it could stir up some bad blood.
But then again, what is the value of this overall poll? I think it’s fun and interesting. Work kept me busy so I couldn’t cast my votes (I do have a registration, but I rarely ever log in). I was amused with some of the self-voting I saw in the tallies above. It’s valuable to establish a Top Ten, but how do you start breaking down the particulars for the rest of the community?

I’ll answer for you- because you’re pathetic, have no life, nothing but time to try to make people as miserable as all you haters are, and no one would visit your sites if you had one and if you do have one you probably wish we were all over there instead. OJ does the best attempt to keep us in the know, interested, and on our toes. No one cares if he found something on FB or someone else’s page. We are reading about it, commenting, and discussing it here. Nowhere else. If you don’t like what is happening on this site shut the hell up and go somewhere else to complain. To the eaters posting as anonymous comments – shame on you! Man up and express your opinions as yourselves!

He picks and chooses who he wants to promote and holds grudges as well. I made a jackass of myself offering a peace gesture and look what happened. Instad of reciprocating i got egg thrown in my face. Stealing my links and claiming he got it off the facebook pages instead of crediting my site . . What a self centered no good ingrate. Beautiful Brian, you seem to continue to make things difficult for yourself. You did not make a jackass of yourself by offering a peace gesture. I applauded that and that you made no demands. Many others did and probably returned to viewing your site if they had stopped. It really really doesn’t matter who posted anything first. Try to think about it this way. Let’s say that you knew the identity and personal location of every poster here. What difference would that make? Maybe you could tell yourself that so and so doesn’t know what he or she is talking about etc., but in terms of getting visitors to your website, it wouldn’t make one bit of difference. You cannot always get what you want. None of us can. I would support you better or more if you would stop writing foolishness as you did at 2:07 am. To me, that kind of posting makes you look like a jackass.

It must be hard for you to believe. We don’t have all day to sit here whining about our little websites. I read your entries and what you fail to realize is you are STILL the ONLY one whining. No one cares what OJ does or where the info comes from. We are all still here- not your page. No one cares about your olive branch of peace- this isn’t the middle east. It’s a competitive eating site. We don’t care about egg on your face unless you were eating something in a contest! No one ever said this was the greatest site. People don’t need to visit your page over this one because you bring all the drama here you uneducated horses ass. OJ seems to sit back and let you throw a tantrum like a toddler. That shows how fair this site is. Even the negative comments get posted… Like yours. If you and your little FB fans are unhappy here take your balls and go home children. We are all beyond tired of hearing you run your mouth about yourself!!!! Do us ALL (and yourself) a favor and shut up already!!!!!

When you go anonymous youre credibility as far as im concerned goes down the toilet and my respect for you goes down the toilet as well. You have something to hide . I dont Considering the fact that the administrator of this site is anonymous, it makes perfect sense for you pathetic shitheads to follow in his footsteps . Really makes you feel like a big man or woman to gang up on me when im trying to convey my opinion and its not the opinion you want to hear. You fools insist on avoiding the main issue and that issue is that this sneaky ass refuses to credit me for stories or links that he viewed on my site first and then finds some other source to give credit to. And of course he is always right and i am always wrong. I started this competitive eating blog stuff and he came along and copied it . You dont get any lower than that and you people that support him possess the same caliber of mentality. I could care less if not one individual takes my side in this matter. I will take all of you on by myself if need be. Im not throwing a so called temper tantrum as you stated in the previous comment. Matter of fact the more i rant the more followers flock to my site . Stallion you made a good point when you said . ” i applaud the peace gesture and you made no demands” but the problem i have with that is you ended it right there. If you added that “Well maybe OJ could have done the right thing and reciprocated” then that would have made youre statement sound alot better in my mind. When he makes a conscious effort to do the right thing which means stop playing headgames and credit my links or stories here, then i will dissapear and cease being a so called nuisance

With respect to the frequency of the poll, we thought that this was a start, and our hope was that this would be a regular thing (monthly? every couple of months?). This would make sense since the rankings should change around a bit as the season swings into full gear. Also, hopefully more people will get on board and vote to provide a better sense of where everyone who uses the site thinks people should be ranked.

BB as far as I’m concerned you’re a fake anonomus comment poster too. You aren’t registered here either man. The general consensus is for you to get a life. Maybe you haven’t noticed- no one cares what you say, if you like any of us, most of us now know half the anons here are YOU. I say we all just ignore this “guy” and move on. Not sure what an abuse room is Rhonda, but it doesn’t sound like a bad thing right now.
Now- let’s talk polls. I would have moved Kobi, Squibb, Excel, Wu, and a few others a little higher up the chain, but I like how you listed wins, losses, ties. Didn’t realize some ppl have done that many. Good first attempt.

wow its incredible how someone has so much damn time on their hands to create something as non sensical as this. If only 17 regsitered voters are voting how do you explain numbers like 396/16/ 13 for Joey Chestnut. are the same 17 people voting 100 times each? Is one registered voter voting 100 times for all eaters in the poll? If you think this system is accurate then you are just as fake as the person running this site

@joke High opinion? I didnt put myself in the top ten and I know that the eaters I ranked lower than me are better than I am (Damon Wells, Crazy Legs, Nate, Wing Kong etc..) but if I don’t beleive in myself and my abilites why would I expect anyone else to? I am a very confident person but I am not an idiot either, I get better and better everyday and one day I will prove to everyone that I can be a top 15 eater. Until then I have no problem taking the abuse and critism from people that feel the best way to thow insults is standing behind a computer and choosing not to say who they are.

@Wrecking Ball, are you sure you aren’t mistaking your confidence for ignorance? Hate to break it to you but you are only ranked in the IFOCE not based on your eating ability but on the fact that you pulled a stunt before a Nathan’s contest. Try getting 20 HDB’s then you won’t be criticized but 10, any Joe off the street can do 10.

Wrecking Ball, I agree. The famous bible saying begins “If I am not for myself…….” I respect Stephanie’s opinion about not being able to vote for oneself but that is only one vote. Again, I think everyone should be allowed to do so. As for the rest which has nothing to do with competitive eating, I am going to hold Beautiful Brian to his promise and count on OJ to follow his wishes. “I wouldn’t utter another word on this pathetic copycat blog ever again….”

@joke Do I make the IFOCE rankings? No, so whatever number they put me in i have no control over and yes it is confidence. I have enough guts to not only vote for myself but I am confident enough to put my name behind my statements. When I say something I log in and let everyone who I am and what I stand for, which is much more than you can say for yourself. So instead of questioning my self confidence why don’t you worry about the fact that you aren’t confident enough in yourself to even use your name.

I didn’t get a chance to vote in this poll but not sure if I would have anyhow just due to the differences in eater types. I’d have no idea how to rank those that do longer-timed challenges vs. those who do 10 & 8 minute contests. Lol, I have votes from people I don’t know – thank you very much!!!!! WB – thx my friend and sorry I wasn’t here to cast my votes 🙂

Like Larell, but for different reasons, I didn’t vote in the poll though would have liked to. I see that some chose to vote only through to a certain number. It would be great to do the same poll again if that were possible because that is what I would do, vote for perhaps the top 10 or 15. If the people who already voted with registered votes would agree to allow their voting to stand and others could be added, I would like that. Or those who registered and voted could change or tweak or whatever. It is all up to OJ who toils on our behalf and for our reading pleasure.

I agree!!! LarellMarie made a great point. I can’t really pit each eater up against each other as the best when their foods, times, & payouts all differ. I think there should be a poll for best of … Hot dogs, perogies, wings, meatballs, pizza… That would be fantastic! I’m sure it’d take a while to complie, but maybe do the previous year? Best wing eater of 2010… Best Hot Dog eater of 2010… & so on.

Its kind of cool to see who voted for who, but it’s also bad. Maybe don’t post that next time. No one shows the President voting for himself. Let’s have a little anonymity here where it counts man.

Total earnings? Is that what Joey Pat Squibb etc earned all year? Looks low to me. Read an article Joey made $219,000 last year Squibb has all those cars Is that right? Is it just cash?

The list is just cash prizes. Joey Chestnut’s $219,000 includes appearance fees and endorsements which are not publicized.

I agree with Rhonda, too many nonsense posts. I cant find any of the real ones. For example I cant find Rhondas thoughts on Sonya at the loose meat contest.

I seem to recall her saying it would have been nice if Joey had made it or something to that effect. Anyway that damned contest is months old! Seems as though you are as hung up on that contest as BS is about who posted first. You too need to move on 1137. Are there no other contests out there?

It sounds like some creep is out there obsessed with Sonya and her friends and family? It’s probably harmless but eaters should beware. It appears it might be someone who attended that loose meat contest several months ago. The Sheas might want to look into this and warn her. Yuck! Regarding loose meat, all I know is that an eater complained to a judge that they had counted an extra plate for Sonya. Which didn’t seem likely because her totals without the plate were very low for her capability. But, she’s had food miscounted before, unfortunately she felt like she was being ganged up on by the other eaters, and although she was mad, she obviously accepted the judges ruling. So, if there was a miscount of plates it was fixed. I don’t know what the big deal is over that contest? Weird.

You just keep spewing SH*T here. Referring to this site as eatfesces and all you other misspellings with all your anonymous accounts. While the truth is that you don’t even report 1% of the eating feats that are reported here. While the trust is that you many times are NOT the first one to report things. While the trust is that you are just NOT a nice person. NOT a very good competitive eater. My guess is that your domain name is costing you more than you can really afford. So you take it out on others. Like this site. And like the fact that your winnings as a no-name-competitive-eater can’t keep your own site financed. This site has reported MANY more things before you. Why do you have to use many anonymous accounts to make it seem like you have so many followers? Why can you only spew SH*T? You are at the same level as the other loser. “World Champion Dale Boon”. That means, the level of things I don’t even look at when I go to the bathroom to go “poopoo”.

And I didn’t use capital Bs on purpose. Because you don’t deserve anything. All you can talk about on this site is eatfeces (your misspelling, not mine). And all you can do is use many anonymous accounts that YOU own to state that “bb reported it first”. You should really get a life. Your site reports probably less than 1% of what this site reports. And many times, this site reports things before you do. You never mention that, of course. I guess you found out having your own domain is costing you more than you want. You are nothing but a mean person. And as a competitive eater, you never have meant anything noticeable. You are just someone who can’t deal with the fact that scores of other eaters are better than you and that there is a website more popular than yours. You are just like Dale Boone, the one calling himself World Champion. You just can’t deal with reality. Boone is not the “World Champion”, and you, Beautiful Brian, don’t have the best site on competitive eating by a long way. And you, bb, don’t mean much as a competitive eater. So all you can do is put down everything and everyone better than you. Including websites.
