If they really want to compare. . .might be a good idea to list the weight of each meatball. . .the number means nothing by itself without knowing how big they are. . .

I would admit now the AICE has a handful of eaters that are pretty good, but its a clear fact that they are no where as good as the top 10 MLE eaters right now. I know for a fact that eaters like Bertoletti, Chestnut, and sonya have reached kobayashi status, and the rest of the top 10 is not that far away. Maybe one day soon y’all can say that about your elite eaters, but today is not the day. Sorry

I’ll readily admit, and already have admitted that the AICE has some very talented eaters in Goose, Ian, Vac and others, not to mention Menchetti. I have nothing against those eaters and they deserve ample recognition.
But here we have a man in Chapman who makes unfounded claims. He just wants to get a foot in the door to what MLE eaters are experiencing. He is, I’ll use the word, jealous, in a nutshell.
If his eaters are really that good he will surely land some deals. The networks and such have a vested interest in tapping into talent that the public wants to see. If America wants to see the Goose Gilberts and such, more power to Mr, Chapman. But it’s tough to buy into unknown entities.
Take either Koby, Sonya, Pat, or Joey alone. I don’t know for sure but I suspect more people are familiar with any one of them than all of the AICE eaters put together. This is especially true of Koby and Sonya.
MLE has done a great job marketing their eaters and the eaters have responded talent wise.

Shame we will never get to see who is the best because Papa Shea would never allow AICE and IFOCE to compete. All these theories and claims are null and void without a head to head.

(Butch) I agree that if the Sheas promised to look the other way just one time only, you would have to hold Pat and Joey down to keep them from “pouncing” on those eaters and Koby and Sonya would probably attend if there was enough financial interest.
I would really like to see the IFOCE top 4 which should be Koby, Joey, Pat, and Sonya versus AICE’s top 6 because they would need a handicap and you could use AICE rules just to keep them from complaining. Let it be an, 8, 10, or 12 minute contest and flip a coin to see who picks the food.
Here is an idea ————— eggs. I don’t think Sonya dunks eggs when she eats so let their great egg champion Goose take on Sonya in a short 8 minute contest. That will settle the egg champ once and for all. If the Goose could eat at 80 or more eggs he might have a shot and then Sonya could help make him really famous.

(Butch) Here is another idea concerning a no dunking food ———– oysters. Between Koby, Pat, Joey and Sonya, pick any two of them versus the best three or maybe four AICE eaters in a 10 minute contest.

Isn’t Sonya’s egg record for the unusual time of 6:40? So, 8 minutes in eggs, as in pickles, would be a long time.
There was a time when the top 5 was better than aice. (when I left, I was #6) Its probably top 10 right now, maybe more, just from time & talent. (more eaters) As a better eater than I has said, i’m not top 5 in the world, just top 5 amongst the 500 or so people who have tried this. I partly agree. The problem with that, is most who have the “talent” probably have tried it.
If Chapman makes unfounded claims, its only because he has learned from observing the masters. In fact, every ifoce eater should probably respond to whatever a Shea says with “Yes masser”.

I know one thing. At least the independent eaters are eating and not on hiatus. Based on the lack of events on the IFOCE upcoming events page, it looks like this inaction will continue for the forseeable future, except for some of the major televised events like Nathan’s, brats, and Krystals, and all of these are for only the top ranked eaters.
I believe that a major task that the IFOCE will have for 2007 will be to examine how to keep the mid ranked and lower ranked eaters from jumping ship to the independent association. Eaters want to eat, not sit around and watch others continually get all the attention, money, and glory.
Who can blame any mid or lower ranked eater if he or she does jump on the independent bandwagon? I say this as a dedicated IFOCE follower over the years, but let’s be realistic here.

Comparing Kobayashi or Joey (or Pat) to the Green Beret of Grub is like comparing a Lamborghini to a Ford Mustang. There is no comparison. The Ford Mustang is fast, but the Lamborghini is in a totally different class of automobiles.

Again, we will never know will we, because Papa Shea will not allow it. We can speculate all day, but have Shea loosen his grip on his eaters and let them settle it at the table.
