Since no one cared, Pete once again had to resort to posting some cell phone camera footage to feed his latest attempt at 15 minutes of fame. Not exactly ESPN — sad really. He should join the IFOCE and make over $100,000 a year, since he obviously isn’t cutting it as an independent (professional?/amateur?) eater financially. Besides some gay followers, the weightlifting community, and others who know nothing about competitive eating, I think the major media outlets now realize that Pete’s just a wannabe, self-promoter. Maybe Pete should go back to eating wings and watermelon against amateurs, and if that doesn’t pan out I’m sure there’s a few snake oil companies that could use a good salesman. Any legitimate competitive eater should be offended about how this guy Pete claims to be on their level and glom onto their talent and notoriety they have built through hard work and competition with the best in the competitive eating field.

Once again it seems that Seiken is ranting. If it isn’t Seiken, Pathetic accompanies him. I simply cannot believe that so many eaters want to tear each other down. There already is so little food/money except for thought. What purpose is served by all of this except to destroy competitive eating.

Anony 1:45: “What purpose is served by all of this except to destroy competitive eating?” It’s people like Pete, who saw a nitch and the fame given to top eaters, and realized he could make money off their exploits pretending to be like them without really competiting or working hard. The purpose of pointing out Pete’s inadequacy is that his less then impressive exploits, while claiming to be a top eater, make the real eaters look diminished. It is Pete who would destroy competitive eating through false claims of being one of the top eaters in the world, making $100,000 a year in the IFOCE, without having to actually prove anything. Now that Koby is available to eat against him, notice how you don’t see Pete looking to challenge him? The reason Pete would never eat against Koby is that it would expose him for who he is, a wannabe, self-promoter, and dash the hopes of his ill-informed fan base. I’m sure Pete’s working on some excuse on why “they” won’t let him compete against Koby, just like the bull he tried to pass off and was exposed for on why the IFOCE wouldn’t let him eat against top eaters.

I am going to guess that the main reason Furious Pete was not allowed into the IFOCE is that they didn’t want to promote his story, linking competitive eating with an eating disorder. That seems the most likely and is completely understandable from the point of view of the IFOCE and its sponsors. With that history, Pete has, partially by chance, created a perfect niche for himself. His story is true. Good for him. Once again Pathetic, you are way out in the ozone. It makes no difference whether or not Pete could be ranked number 1 or 10 or 20 in the IFOCE or could or could not beat Koby. His following is because of his true story. Breathe deeply and get a grip.

Anony 4:04 — I guess you guessed wrong, the only reason Pete himself cited for not competiting in the IFOCE is that he could make more money outside of the IFOCE. “There was a league I was once part of, but I didn’t stay with them because they brought in some contract that I didn’t agree of. For example, I wouldn’t have been able to film the documentary under that contract,†Czerwinski explains. “There’s a poutine contest coming to Toronto and I’ve asked to compete in it and they won’t let me. So it kind of sucks to not be able to compete in all these events, but I find other events to compete in.†By the way, that is one of only several contradictory stories Pete has provided to date. Even the owner of the poutine contest said they would let Pete eat in later statements. So maybe the you’re the one who needs to breathe deeply and get a grip on reality. And, please enough with trying to gain sympathy out the tragic illness Pete suffered from when he was young. Many of the top eaters have been through hardships, as bad, if not worse than what Pete went through. The difference is they are too classy to exploit those difficulties for financial gain. Maybe next time you should respond with facts, instead of some trite ozone line?

The first quote refers to the AICE contract, introduced in May 2009

Okay, I stand corrected Pathetic. So Pete wouldn’t sign a contract, so Pete could make more money elsewhere, so what is it that Pete is doing that is wrong? Not a thing as far as I can tell. He made his choices. He brings fans to the sport period. He uses what he has and doesn’t come off like an idiot. What do you do Pathetic? All eaters do benefit from other eaters as long as the eaters do not behave like punks. I still think that everyone knows the name Kobayashi even if they think he’s that little Chinese guy. Same for Sonya, even if they mix her up with Juliet. Even people who do not know any names in competitive eating, if you mention hotdogs, yes, that strikes a bell. People’s attention spans are very short. Give Pete credit, he deserves it. Or don’t. The choice is always yours.

Anony 5:20: Good discussion, and it’s a credit to you to admit when you’re wrong. I will give credit to Pete that he has done a great job at marketing himself, uses what he has, and he does not come off like an idiot. Where he goes wrong is when he demeans others, through false statements. Maybe, if he doesn’t want to see such bad treatment of him in the competitive eating community he needs to be aware that even seemingly innocuous statements such as being able to make $100,000 a year in the IFOCE demeans other eaters (just one example). He’s a public figure in competitive eating and everything he says will get examined through a microscope. So, he will get called when a statement doesn’t add up. Now, on the point that he brings fans to the sport, well that road has been laid long before Pete ever arrived on the scene and the truly loved and respected eaters make sure that others get credit where credit is due (Booker and Sonya are good examples of this behavior). Maybe, Pete needs to do the same. Believe me he’ll come off looking better for it. Because at this point it seems that all he cares about is bringing fans to Pete and outside of his limited fan base he comes off looking like a fraud, inaccurate, selfish and self centered.

Pathetic has brought reason and excellent discussion to eatfeats. Yes, I fully admit when I am wrong and am interested in what you have written. Booker and Sonya are role models for sure. Can you or oj cite the statement about $100,000 a year from Pete because these huge figures continue to be in the press both from IFOCE Sheas, Joey, and a few, very few others. But if you read what is written here and look at the eatfeats database for money earners, that simply does not compute. I know about top eaters, meaning perhaps only first five probably getting appearance fees or opportunities for paid way to certain events. Those must be private arrangements made between those eaters and IFOCE and would not ever be in the database. It is perhaps the other huge figures which continue to make for jealousy among eaters, among other things. I have not read enough about Pete to make a response to your last sentence except for one question. The last three descriptions could apply to many many eaters and organizations bolstering themselves including the IFOCE/MLE two brothers and a partner. The line between carnival barking and veracity is slim. However, the first description, fraud, is the one I find puzzling. Why do you think he is a fraud aside from smack talking about how he could beat so and so, again so many eaters, now it seems including Kobi, make these claims.

Anony 12:40: The line about $100,000 came from the same MovieFest article in OJ’s database where Pete’s quote was earlier cited regarding not signing the IFOCE contract. Here’s what the article said: “Czerwinski’s last eating contest was in mid-March, but as the summer season begins there will be many more. He says if he was a part of the IFOCE – that’s the Major League Eating & International Federation of Competitive Eating – he could make $100,000 a year. “If you’re in Japan, you can probably make close to half a million to a million.‒ Fraud maybe too harsh a characterization, yet by saying you could triple and quadruple, etc., what Joey, Bob, Koby, Pat and Sonya make, is certainly not being straight with the public and is an insult to those eaters. Now, add on Pete’s statement that he would make “a half million to a million” a year in Japan? Don’t tell me Pete’s that dumb that he doesn’t realize he is disrespecting an entire nation of competitive eaters? And, his frequent claim of being the top eater in the world … well what would you call that? Maybe not Fraud, okay? How about arrogant, innaccurate, selfish and self centered?

Joey keeps claiming to make $200,000 a year, so I’m not sure where you get that he would make more than them?

Thank you Pathetic though I really wish you would choose another name. Your information is excellent. Yes, now I understand all and agree completely with you. He is certainly prone to inflating everything including himself. So your four adjectives are excellent descriptions. Clearly he is completely winging it on the Japan reference. I guess he can join Boone in his claim of being the top eater in the world. I do not think Joey or Kobi have ever called themselves that.

Anony 2:20: Great discussion. I hope we can talk again. Maybe I’m now being arrogant, but if Pete read our discussion I think he he could learn a lot from it. You don’t have to get ahead on the backs of others. Pete clearly has a lot of potential, particularly in the marketing department, he just needs to tone it down when it comes to disrespecting other eaters and inflating his accomplishments. Let’s see what happens.

Pathetic may well be (one of….)the best things that has happened to this blog. I am the anony with the back and forth but lost touch for a few days. It is hard to keep up with all that is happening. Rereading my own posts, I see that I can be a bit hot under the hotdog at times. That’s okay because Pathetic’s measured responses enlightened me. Pathetic…….PLEASE…….choose a new name. How to do that using eatfeats I do not know. You are so far from pathetic unless you were referring to some of the comments here. I can zing a little, but am definitely wishing serious information and serious discussion. Hats off to you Pathetic.
