Personally I think Ian should stay 3rd until I get more events under my belt…but whatever, Ranks don’t mean too much anyways.

No no sir. You have proved enough. 72 ounce steak. 18 bananas in 2 minutes. Collegiate Nationals. You just need to go into Chicago and beat “G”Joe and the Goose. Then the rankings will show you whats up.
    Keep up the good work.

Furious Pete seems like a great new talent and it sounds like he will prove he deserves the ranking. I’m pretty surprised however that Hickman was booted after a single win, especially given his long track record. What if it was just a bad day for him, or a single food that he has trouble with? Seems alittle reactionary on AICE’s part to do that to one of their loyal guys.

I think Pete has a right to be ranked where he is. Like they say (I think it was Ric Flair), “To be the man, you’ve got to beat the man.” The Furious one did it, and not just by a few bites, but by five sandwiches. That wasn’t just a victory, it was a runaway.

Joey was moved to number 1 in the world after a very close victory over Koby — even though Koby had beaten Joey each of five previous times. That change in rankings I questioned, vehemently, but I don’t question Pete’s move up.

    Congratulations Pete!

Ian Hickman is a great eater, and I don’t think this takes anything away from him. I think it tough with the top folks, since they are all so great. It might just have to come down to the latest contest where they are head to head. Gentleman Joe was winning contests, but when he went head to head with Tom “Goose” Gilbert and lost by 2.5 ounces he fell to number 2.

Certainly Pete’s performances are excellent. I just think you should be careful how quickly you move your top ranked Eaters. I think I would have liked to have seen at least one or two more contests between them before reshuffling.

Rhonda, I think the IFOCE situation was alittle different. Joey had built a convincing case by beating absolutely everyone in contest after contest for over a year. It’s not his fault that Koby only competed in the US 2-3 X a year. I mean, what more could you have asked of the guy in that run up?

Thats certainly no swipe at Koby. I wish he could compete here more often, and in more food types.

I agree with ya Steakbellie…and I respect Ian’s great eating. I talked to Arnie and told him there is no point in moving me just yet as I really need to get more events in me before the rankings are touched. But I mean…if they are wrong, then they can be changed after the events in July…just on going competition and fun 😀

As an AVID fan of competitive eating, I have to admit that I am VERY impressed with Pete’s recent performances. His first two events have not only been victories, but victories in DECISIVE fashions. Obviously the high ranking may seem premature to some, so far they appear to be valid. To compare it to other sports, LeBron James was compared to Michael Jordan before he ever stepped foot on an NBA court, and it seemed premature and yet now it would appear a valid comparison in some ways. The ‘Furious’ one will prove in time whether he deserves the high ranking. I have a feeling that the initial predictions of him hitting #1 before the end of summer.

Great win, Pete. You going to be in Jersey this summer for Windmill Hot dogs?

First, as always, thanks Steak, Pete and Dave.

I agree with Steak for the most part. Honestly, I was just as surprised I lost my third rank after one contest, as I was when I saw Joe lose his after one match. BUT what it boils down to is I lost. Not by a bite. Not by a sandwich but by FIVE. Regardless of whether I had a bad day or not, Pete showed up to eat and killed it. If he doesn’t deserve to be there, it will definitely show by summer’s end. Good luck to the Canuck.

I feel he’s going to do just fine.

Thanks Ian….Like I said, I don’t feel I deserve this spot…and your record speaks for itself…I should be down at 10th right now until I get contests under my belt…

Whatever, doesn’t matter Ian…Beers are on me at the next contest before hand….winner buys after 😀
