For her to do stuff like that she has to be the greatest their is as far as females are concerned and I have to admit that though Juliet and Sonya are pretty good eaters they could do nothing like Sone does in the long game. Why dont we see more about this woman in the news is my biggest question. I dont think she can eat very fast though, just a lot.

Is it just me, or are many of the links to videos malformed? The link here says
http://www.veoh.com/videos/v656058PcZZJK9w
but if you click on it, it goes to

The same thing happens at the Tomoko Miyake curry article video at http://eatfeats.com/tomoko-miyake-curry-challenge-video.html .

The links have been fixed. A http: initially appears in the link entry form and it sometimes does not get overwritten when I think it has been.

Isn’t that annoying OJ? That happens alot. Blogspot adds those in also. Who do they think they are helping by putting that http: in there for you? Like there is anyone who doesn’t copy and paste.

Luther,
I say this with all respect… Are you high???
I’ll admit that Gal Sone is a good eater, but I’d put my money on Sonya any time the two would face off. Sone ate a lot in this clip, but I’ve seen Sonya eat just as much before – possibly more – and in less time. The guys Sone faced were chumps – couldn’t even get through a platter of food alone without switching off. Sonya would have mopped the floor with these guys and finished in under 15 minutes. (I couln’t even tell if Sone finished her last course… it was a little unclear in the video, and I don’t speak Japanese, so I couldn’t tell you if the announcer said she did or not.)
Ultimately, while I respect Sone as an eater, and I concede that she could beat many people out there in distance (but most likely not speed), I’d stand behind Sonya, Juliet or even Carlene if she were to come out of retirement against the Gal.
Gal Sone is like a Japanese female eating version of the Monkees – good at what she does but ultimately a creation of the media. I have yet to see her eat these massive amounts without cutaways, and I don’t trust that she doesn’t get rid of her meal now and then during some of her massive 20,000+ calorie meals.
If she were as good as she appears in the edited videos, why aren’t her handlers clamboring to get her into an American contest and trounce on the female records? If she were the female Kobyashi that could beat any and all female American contenders (and most likely most of the male ones), why is she keeping so close to home?
Until I see her eat these massive amounts with decent speed, in unedited video clips or live, I’ll remain skeptical.

It is good to see the skeptical side come out, Kevin. First thing I thought while watching this was how many days they took to film it. One note- understanding japanese to know what the announcer said is still just taking someone’s word for it.

The creation of different personalities in American CE is often compared to the WWF (often over the top, sensational, sometimes schmaltzy and goofy), but the eating has always been real. In Japan, however, it looks like they’ve taken the fake-wrestling-meets-CE model a step further by inventing characters and maybe even fabricating eating contests. I’m not saying Gal Sone and her accomplishments are fictional, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Luther I think you’re biting off more than you and Gal Sone can chew in tandem.

I don’t think anyone eats more than her on a regular basis. Its speed eating she does bad in….if the match were to be about who could eat the most she would definately win. Whats amazing is that most eaters train to eat like that and only in competitions. This girl eats like that every damn day. And if you look at competitions and such while every1 has a stone cold face, she is really enjoying her meal. And by how cool Kobayashi is i doubt that he eats like that every day.
