Gal Sone’s meals released and reviewed
The meals Gal Sone endorsed for the Lawson convenience store chain debuted yesterday. Gal Sone has a blog entry about the release containing pictures of a store containing her advertisement. Gigazine has reviews of the meals. Lawson stores will sell the meals until May 19.

Apparently, the makers of the Sone-endorsed meals are willing to take the chance that she is recognised throughout her country by enough people to take a risk that her endorsement will leverage sales. We’re not quite there yet in this country.
I do believe, however, that CE’s very best days in the U.S. lie ahead, and that in a few years we may well see Joey’s mug on Nathan’s dogs (where it definitely SHOULD be), Pat’s mohawk on ice cream boxes, and Sonya’s broad smile on cans of oysters (or BK Happy Meal bags/Whopper boxes).
I strongly believe using Sonya’s image would by far have the greatest leverage for marketing food products. The message to consumers would be, “The greatest female eater in the world–who weighs all of 100 lbs– loves this food and can eat “X” amount of it, so if she likes it, and can stay that thin, it can’t be too bad … Try it!”
As I’ve said several times, though people are amazed when normal sized/200-pound men eat tremendous amounts of food, it is virtually beyond belief, and extra special to witness, when someone half that size can eat almost as much (sometimes even more). And when that person is a female to boot, that adds an emboldened exclamation point.
All Sonya needs is a savvy manager/managing organization with a bit of business sense. She doesn’t even need to be in contests. Sit her down in front of an audience, let her eat for 5 minutes and be amazed.
(Sonya, I hope you’re reading this. Even if you don’t, I’ll drop you an E-mail. I have an idea or two I want to put in your beautiful mind.)
