Prizes for the Gringo Bandito Taco Challenge have been announced: 1st 5,000 2nd 1,000 3rd $500 4th $250. The contest will take place in Huntington Beach, CA on August 3 and Takeru Kobayashi and Pete Czerwinski are expected to compete. Competitors will need to email a link to a youtube video to receive a spot in a qualifier.

    They fail to mention that both are receiving a very generous high five figure appearance fee . Fill the table for them with a link or email while they make the bucks and you make shit

    Dave UK makes the most salient point! Many people writing under anonymous are jealous eaters of all stripes, independent or with organizations. There is no divide and conquer in competitive eating or there should never be. If eaters in general would stick together, support those who are upstanding and try to get those who are not to conform better to the community, competitive eating and the world would be a far better place. Of course Kobayashi and Pete have worked and worked for what they have and are achieving. You have to put in the time and be disciplined and also have some talent. But most of it, like anything else in life, is plain hard work.

    Pete is a top tier eater, no doubt, no argument from me, but his only reign when facing Koby will be on the throne in the men’s room after the event—-in this or ANY CE event, of any length, with any food.

    Pete doesn’t have to feel badly, however, because Koby’s the best in the world. Joey and Pat B are the only two who can rival him, and only in some foods.

    All the rest are far, far back.
