IFOCE french fry contest Austin TX Jan 27
(From Liz K) A bikini string french fry eating contest at Bikini’s Bar & Grill has been added to the IFOCE schedule on January 27, 2007. The total purse is $2000.
The press release on the restaurant’s website lists Joey Chestnut, Sonya Thomas and Tim Janus as the expected out of towners. (I am not sure if this means that Sonya has reconciled with IFOCE or if they added her as an entrant without consulting her. )

See, that’s what I mean about not being able to trust press releases. Pat B’s explanation a few weeks ago was right on target, as many times there is a time lag between when the story is developed and when it is released.
However, it wouldn’t be a monumental task for the press agency to ebsure the information is current before it is released. But she will not be there (unless there’s an appearance fee added on), and for that amount of money Joey won’t be there either. Looks like an event for Rich or X to snatch up 1st place. That’s understandable too, because attaching Sonya’s name to an event is most attractive to the public.
And like I said before, the public, overall, thinks it’s amazing to see a 200 lbs man eat lots of food, but it is something most special and beholding — a true rarity — when a 99-lbs female does it; another Sonya won’t be along for maybe another decade or so, and every compertitive eater who truly participates in the sport and wants to see it grow has an investment in Sonya’s longevity in the business. The smart ones realize this. Many of lesser intelligence do not.

Easy there Rhonda Evans, you act like being born as a freak of nature is something to bow down too. lol Your funny. There are thousands of Sonya’s and Joey’s out there they just don’t know about these contests. Only a fool would disagree. There’s roughly 7 billion people on earth you do the math.

That’s an excellent point Anony. As a matter of fact, I think you are plagiarizing what I already said a few days ago.
Nevertheless, it may take a while, depending on the rate of growth or exposure of the sport, that these additional Joeys and Sonyas — and Koby’s too — come out of the bushes. Anyway, that;s the future. Right now, I see one Joey, one Koby, and one Sonya. And if you think there’s another Sonya out there right now, hold you’re breath and I’ll call the paramedics!

Rhonda, I think Juliet Lee COULD be the next Sonya. She did well in meatballs. I do not think she can be a Sonya without working for it and I heard she has kids. I think those matters will understandably come before any contests.

Mad Stork, you never know. Juliet is certainly off to a good start.
