The MLE facebook reports that the top 3 IFOCE members, Joey Chestnut, Pat Bertoletti & Bob Shoudt, are expected in the Upper Crust Pizza contest on Saturday. Other expected entrants are Eric "Badlands" Booker, Crazy Legs Conti and Larell Marie Mele.

    Nice. The top three will put on a good show. What’s the most top ranked eaters to ever compete in a non-major event (excluding events with qualifiers). The top four, five, six?

    The best field for a contest without a qualifier circuit was probably the 2006 Sheboygan bratwurst contest won by Kobayashi, which was televised on ESPN.

    Oh, OJ. There was a qualifier that year: automatic entry to the top 3 at a brat event Milwaukee. Didn’t Wach and Crazy Legs and Eater X qualify there. The other guys took their chance with a “lottery” awarding entry to the Sheboygan event.

    Regardless, why is Mega Munch defining a non-major as anything without a qualifying circuit? Was the US Open not a major?

    By qualifier circuit I meant multiple qualifiers
