    Nice Jamie McDonald and Naader Reda, thanks OJ for keeping us informed as always. I could have my own google alert but OJ does a fabulous job of finding anything and everything and keeping us fully entertained with all about competitive eating in an easily read format with links which he actually fixes when someone informs him that something doesn’t work.

    Upon closer observation, Gavonne’s new site is easy on the eyes but what he writes about people is cruel. I have to say that I think that he and Seiken share this quality in different ways. Both use extremely poor judgment in what they write about other people, personal and cruel things which should never be put into print. Forget lawsuits, people can easily libel others and get away with it repeatedly. It is only huge corporations and those with huge amounts of money who have to option to do anything of the sort. If only people would monitor themselves and be honorable. Keep your disagreements private where they belong. Neither Gavonne nor Seiken should be given nearly as much publicity as they get on here but it’s a democracy, I guess. Personally I wish that OJ would actually make a statement of community standards and monitor better the comments he does allow. But it is his site and his decisions.

    Nobody wants to be slammed in public, whether it be in cyperspace, in print, or face-to-face in front of others. Doing so seems thoughtless, cruel, and mean-spirited, the intention of which is only to harm / cause trouble. Rarely does anything good come from it.

    One of the first and best things I learned as a leader, from a former Marine drill sergeant, is praise in public; chastise in private. When you do the opposite you take away a person’s dignity, which often strips that person of self-worth. Nobody likes that.

    We are all human. We all make mistakes from time-to-time and we all want to be given another chance to start anew. We all deserve that chance.

    850 by mentioning Gavonne & Seiken in the same breath is a true insult to Seiken intelligence and everything that he accomplished over the years in competitive eating . Like equate John Lennon with Mark David Chapman. The only bond between the both is that one wanted to be John Lennon so bad that the only way to accomplish the mission was to shoot him down like a dog in the street. Almost the same scenario only to a lesser degree. Then again put a gun in his hand and anything is possible . Gavonne is a copycat . Seiken is opinionated ,not vicious . Big difference

    Rhonda chastise in private is pointless with the animals that congregate on this site. Cowards love an audience and in turn are able to coerce a multitude of people to hate another human being Case in point Seiken. . They accomplish very little by chastize someone in a private email .

    For Rhonda who contributes greatly here, the experiences of several people who did make suggestions to the unnamed person by private e-mail came to nothing but more ranting. It is a fine concept in theory but in some cases it does not work. Kindness is not always repaid with kindness or at least taking someone’s opinion into consideration.

    A 9:21: Your sense of reality is noted. I always say to myself that knowing the ideal helps give us a good sense of direction, even if we cannot accomplish 100% of our goal—-even if (and we always will) have some setbacks.

    Staying on course toward that ideal seems to result in enough successes along the way to make staying on that path seem worthwhile. It’s certainly better than any other alternative, at least for me, and many others, I hope.

    Rhonda writes with good common sense and a positive outlook and optimism. I agree that it is certainly better to always hope for the best and move in that direction. I admire her for her thoughts and enthusiasm and it does not matter to me one bit who she may be “in person”, she has a great persona right here.
