    That’s a whoops I would think. Speaking into the microphone and saying what he did, surely he had permission or he is simply flaunting because he is Joey? But hotdogs? Maybe he is trying to get himself retired. A challenge here, a whatever there, he should be the model for contract following. Permission? Makes no sense. Someone else tell me otherwise.

    It is regional to Denver so they do not seem to be a competitor to Nathan’s, but I doubt mle gave him approval. How this plays out will be interesting.

    Very obvious. He wants to get Kobi in the ring with him for two contests Hot dogs and wings. Cant do it with an MLE contract . Finally the chickens have come home to roost

    I think Joey’s boredom, as a result of winning almost every contest he enters, including Nathans finals so many years in a row, has caused him to not care about his future with MLE. He has really put the Sheas in a corner.

    Agree with many of the comments except those which think this is about a Nathans Restaurant not being in competition with a Denver location. It is not, it is about Nathans hotdogs period. This will indeed be interesting. He has gotten the Sheas into a corner for sure……..speaking into the microphone, not just seen eating somewhere or even doing the no no challenge.

    When you really think about it, perhaps MLE does not need him. There are plenty of other top eaters, some have beaten him in other foods. Without Kobayashi to pace him and even with, Nathans is boring. In fact, he is boring. Maybe, like the untruths about Adam Richman, there are some health issues and he wants to exit but would rather get removed than tell the truth. Or perhaps he is really bored. Well, for the bucks he is making, he ought to take boredom over misbehavior.

    Really, wouldn’t it be better to have several top eaters with more character to do exhibitions, Pat, Shoudt, Janus, Sonya, and spread the wealth around. Janus gives far better interviews than Joey, always has. Pat has character for sure, Bob does too and Sonya is so well known already that it seems obvious to me where this might all be headed.

    A few years ago, I saw Joey on Food Network eating non-Nathan’s hot dogs at a place in San Jose. I don’t think MLE cared about that either.
