Joey Chestnut pleads guilty to battery

update US Magazine has posted the terms of Joey Chestnut’s 180 day probation: no alcohol, drugs or firearms. He must also submit to drug and alcohol testing, enter a treatment program and have all travel outside Indiana approved by his probation officer.
US Magazine reports that Joey Chestnut plead guilty in April to a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from an altercation at Joe’s Grille in Westfield, IN on March 21. He received 180 days probation, which will be in effect for Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest on July 4. Presumably, the terms of Chestnut’s probation will allow him to leave Indiana and travel to New York, but the article did not explicitly state that. Here is the description of the incident:
The accuser claimed that Chestnut struck him on the left side of his face with an open right hand after the two exchanged a friendly handshake. The food competitor then allegedly made statements along the lines of “look, your buddy’s mad” to the accuser’s friend.
The victim said Chestnut “changed his tone” and stated, “Everything is OK” and that “nothing happened” after the incident.
Later that day, police also spoke with the victim’s friend, who backed up the story. The friend said he continued to speak with Chestnut after the altercation “in an effort to stall the situation” until they were able to leave.
When law enforcement questioned Chestnut about the incident on March 22, the hot dog champion admitted to officers that he was “pretty drunk and didn’t remember” the altercation.
They informed Chestnut that the incident was caught on the bar’s surveillance footage. After observing the tape, the food personality responded that the slap “looked like a joke” but later suggested he “must have taken offense” to something the victim said, the affidavit read.

OJ this is totaaly off topic but i want to thank you for keeping archived post comments I just finished reading a 200 comment post from 2014 regarding the aftermath of a cannoli eating contest The thread was hijacked by three individuals two of whom were former comp eaters who sound as though they are emotionally disturbed with character flaws far beyond those of mortal men. The comments focus on berating personal hygiene demeaning one another , blackjack , toupees, roaches, stinky butts and armpits The third is former female eater whos posts sound like she suffers from schizophrenia and splt personality disorder at the same time Although disturbing yet comical at the same time, the only constuctive comment is at the end of the thread where timestamps of most of these comments were applied to lottery pick three drawing in which one them actually cane out
