    The only contest that matters is hot dogs. Every eater would trade all of his titles to win Nathan’s, so Bob’s wins over Joey are meaningless.

    Bob Shoudt has come a long way and he deserves to be treated like a champ . There was a time when even Beautiful brian beat him in hot dogs at molly pitcher in 2002. He would struggle with 16 in 2005 and travel by car to other qualifiers so he could make it to Coney. It was right after his early rd elimination in Alka Seltzer US open when he finally said enough is enough and from there on in he got better and better and finally qualified for Nathans in 2006. When he finally qualified he qualified big. He is a true champ and in the future his expenses should be covered on a permanent basis

    No doubt, Notorious Bob has risen to the occasion many times, and is one of the best eaters in the world. His head-to-head success against Joey is remarkable!

    And this next assertion is my opinion only, and is not meant to slight Joey, who is nothing short of phenomenal. This would not be happening versus Kobayashi. I can’t even imagine such a thing. Looking at all contests, Koby is clearly the best eater in the world, but we may never see the rankings reflect that.

    Best of luck to Joey in Singapore.

    Well Rhonda, Koby does actually have bad days, just look at the 2008 Krystal’s Eating Contest. He clearly had potential to take first place (i would even add the word ‘eassily’), yet he finished third. I aggree on Koby being more dominant than Joey overall, but not by a big margin though.

However, Koby has never lost to Joey in a nondunking contest (—-Brats, Singapore Chicken, P’Zone, and 09 Krystals, of which three of those four were routs! Joey’s few victories over Koby have been by relatively slim margins, and in only one food type—-liquified sandwich foods.

    Joey’s probably a sandwich food drinker, or at least he was at one time. Koby’s the best competitive eater.

    With Koby intently spending a lot of time in NYC lately, he’ll likely have a chance to practice drinking HDBs prior to this year’s Nathan’s, more so than in previous years.

    Still, I expect Joey to win this year’s HDB waterfest, because he seems to have a bit more stomach capacity. Should that be the case, Joey will easily retain the #1 World ranking, even if Koby tops Joey in every event prior to the 2011 Nathan’s finals.
