It is clear that they wanted to have the “average” kind of guy instead of a “bodybuilder” kind of guy, too bad because the thing is about eating challenges not about looks!

Or they wanted to go to a new city with a guy who was actually good on camera and didn’t spend as much time with his shirt off

haha thats a great one anonymous 1:17pm!! The guy filmed the video in his basement!! & can you honestly say he looked good on camera? haha get off your computer and try working out once or twice buddy. That contest was summed up by that girl from Hawaii getting on the show and losing to a 5lb omelet!! Really?

Where he filmed the video does not matter, and yes, I can absolutely say that honestly. I also work out everyday and have been for years. I guess you assumed I never do because I made one comment? (Which you also just did)

I did not assume anything buddy. By saying that, I meant that you need to get off the computer and do something with your life… rather than getting on here and talking negative about something you know nothing about, talking a bunch of crap that means nothing. lol if you want to see somebody good on tv, check out 2 different episodes of “Truckstop USA” next season starting in March on the Travel Channel, a show that people still watch. You can see a person actually win 😉

& I am glad that we both agree on one main thing… the contest was rigged and John was handpicked, because he definitely did not win in votes!!

I happen to watch Man vs. Food, and I also follow this website. I also followed the contest; I watched all the videos, and even voted a few times. I have viewed John’s Facebook page, as well as yours Randy. John is actually a student at one of the top law schools in the country…perhaps the reason he filmed it in his basement is because he has better things; more intelligent and purposeful things, to do with his time than gorging his body with plethoras of fat and sugar. I’m sorry Randy, in case you had to look it up, PLETHORA, means large quantities. Which brings me to my next point, have you considered that although you clearly have a dominant eating record, maybe travel channel chose John because in his video he was articulate, well spoken, and didn’t act like Rocky Balboa when trying to read a cue card. You can not possibly read past a 2nd grade level, and if you actually do, your career path as you have outlined (being an eater) is something that has A. been already done, and B. if you do succeed, in 4 years no one will give a shit about who you are, and all you will be left with is high blood pressure (being in good shape does absolutely nothing for your cholesterol level when you eat like you do so your point of working out is moot). So slam John all you want, in 3 years he will have something more to show for his life than a video of himself screaming into the camera “I EAT FOOD”, and will thus, be laughing at you. Good luck, and read a book.

haha thats a good one. For the record, I have never slammed that guy once, only the contest and the fact that he was chosen, when the rules specifically state that it would be decided by votes. So good call saying that I need to read buddy 😉

And P.S.- I graduated from one of the top Construction Management schools in the country… with honors 🙂

Randy, disappointing about the way things worked out for Man v. Food, sticking to principles is usually a good thing if you feel cheated. But in the end you will have to accept that what happened, happened, and go on just as you are. It is like the refs call, once the game is played, even if everyone agrees that the call was a bad one, the outcome will never be changed, that is against the rules. If competitive eating is a sport, the refs decision is final. And this is show business and entertainment where things change in seconds. You worked hard for something, it did not happen, you are working hard now with a great poster, just keep going is my advice.

Randy, that comment from eatingfan doesn’t merit a response. The guy must have some issues. He is flattering you and doesn’t know it, as those comments have jealousy and resentment written all over them.

You obviously represent someone who has reached a level that he resents not having been able to achieve, and since he can’t compete with you, the next best thing (in his warped mind) is to try to guess at some flaw you might have so he doesn’t feel that you’re too far above him.

I really feel embarrassed for the guy if he can’t see that. It’s obvious to many, and they won’t say it, but I will.

Keep doing what you’re doing. 🙂

Thank you Rhonda for that insightful response. What level has he reached exactly? That of a competitive eater? Yes, that is what I’m jealous of…the fact I can not eat a 8lb hamburger. So yes you’re right, I am not able to achieve that level of stomach capacity nor do I desire to. Randy has been posting negative comments about John and the other videos…claiming that he won in votes…however if you knew anything, Randy, nor anyone else in the competition for that matter, has any way to prove whatsoever who actually had more votes. Travel channel never released statistics.

I was commenting on this “greatness” he has claimed for himself. I for one, have achieved other levels of success in my life which is irrelevant but for you to point a finger at me and say I have not been able to achieve something basically is just dumb since you have no idea who I am or what I do. And I was not GUESSING at a flaw, I was making a fairly obvious observation about how much of a moron he sounds like on camera, as opposed to John, who Randy has continued to speak out against. I was trying to make a point that if Randy is going to speak out against the competition and competitors, he should be careful and just be a good sport about it because there are plenty of things that can be said about him.

I suppose you missed that, boy I would have figured you would have seen that since you are apparently a psychologist and are able to diagnose and anonymous stranger based on a blog post. Keep up the mind-blowing comments Rhonda, I’m elated to see what your next prescription will be.

Randy has been posting comments of ill-will and resentment about the competition; poking fun at other competitors and their videos. He has claimed this level of “greatness” for himself, and I was simply pointing out that what he has done isn’t all that “great.” And if he wishes to be admired, perhaps he should stop criticizing the competition and the other competitors because he, nor anyone else for that matter, does not have any proof whatsoever of the votes that he claims he won. Travel Channel never released any statistics.

I for one, have reached levels of success in my life other than eating huge portions of food. Those successes are irrelevant, my point is that if you are going to tell me that I am “guessing at a flaw” and portray it as an inappropriate thing to do, aren’t you doing that to me? Seeing as how you have no idea who I am, what I do, or what levels of success I have achieved. I wasn’t “guessing” at anything either, I was making a fairly obvious observation about how much of a moron he sounds like on camera, and if he is going to make fun of John’s video for being filmed in his basement, he should be careful since in his own video he sounds like he got hit in the head 12 times before it was filmed.

I thought you might have been able to figure that out Rhonda seeing as how you are obviously a psychologist, able to make a diagnosis about someone through an online web blog. Keep the mind-blowing words of wisdom coming Rhonda, I’m curious to see what your next prescription will include.
