A podcast of Takeru Kobayashi's appearance on 610 WIP this morning is available. Kobayashi talked about appearing (but not competing in) Wing Bowl 19 and oversaw the in-studio Wing Off won by Jason "The Shocker" Hall.

Listening to the podcast, Kobayashi has improved in his understanding of English but is a long long way from attaining any kind of fluency to be interviewed without an interpreter. But really, those WIP guys could use an English interpreter as well. They did no homework on Kobayashi. Wingbowl is what it is, do not think those guys ever care to make it anything like the ESPN Nathans or anything national. It just isn’t family friendly (understatement).

Nathans was a low visibility non-event until Kobayashi transformed it into a global spectacle. George Shea is, at best, a promoter. After shaking hands with Shea, take a jewelry inventory. All talk Mle, need Kobi back. He will soar without them. Dare you to try and speak a little Japanese. Are you defending Shea and his sordid biz practices?

Anony 2:11 yesterday is definitely not trying to defend MLE. Kobayashi will do fine no matter what, is probably already doing far better without MLE. They need him, he doesn’t need them.

I dont think anyone really needs MLE anymore During the height of MLE popularity 2004-07 i would say that is where the partys at . Now no way no how. Aside from Nathans they play second fiddle to the latest hype which is eating challenges and new faces like Jessica , Stephanie Wu & Torrez Johnny Excell. That my friends is the future of competitive eating
