MLE eaters have been begged for years to do the real network TV “America’s Got Talent,” and the best “Team Kobi” can come up with is third billing at a copy-cat talent show put on by Tulane’s Student Union. My how fast the mighty can fall. Note to Miki Sudo, Jamie McDonald, and any other future competitive eaters: If a relation or girlfriend asks to manage you … RUN! Seriously, in the dumbass decision category, possibly only rivaled of late by the Jets picking up Tim Tebow, Hofmann investors have to be asking themselves, what were we thinking? We’ve got a non-English speaking Japanese foreign national trying to sell the great American hot dog. Additionally, Kobi’s like a walking commercial for their hope-to-be rival Nathan’s. The only one probably more appalled is Kobi himself, as he watches Nathan’s qualifiers and all the MLE contests he could of participated in, and he’s not even sure if Hofmann’s will let him do that sad pizza contest at that stripmall in Canada.

Guiness World Records are nothing to sneeze at; they have some strict rules.

I can just about guarantee that whatever Koby does the only competitive eater in the world that might equal or top it is Joey Chestnut. That’s not knocking other CE-ers, but Koby remains one of the two elitest eaters (of the elite) that we’ve seen in our lifetimes.

I would have to agree with 1248. A pure example of a spoiled rotten kid. Just sign the damn contract with MLE and all this nonsense would stop. I mean to not sign for a few extra greedy bucks thats probably spent by now trying to make ends meet in the big apple, was a real dumb move on his part . The well will run dry if it hasnt already and the sponsors who think this guy is raking in the big bucks for them publicity wise, are dumber than they look

Anony 2:23 — I agree, it would be great to see Kobi eating against Chestnut and others in the MLE again. However, Kobi’s management screwed the pooch on any such return. In truth, the only reason Kobi wanted to leave MLE was that he couldn’t handle being number two, and was convinced by his management (who knew nothing about competitive eating) that he could make more money on the outside. But, publically he couldn’t give those reasons for leaving, so they used the whole “Free Kobi” contract thing to make MLE look like the bad guy. For years, saps actually bought that crap until he signed a similiar, more restrictive contract with Hofmann’s. Kobi and MLE could have parted ways on good terms, but Kobi’s management chose consistent bad mouthing of the MLE and Nathan’s with events such as storming the Nathan’s stage. For Kobi to return to MLE would take a monumental appology to Nathan’s as well as MLE, and Team Kobi’s egos couldn’t take it.

That’s right Kobi, sign all your rights over to MLE, smart.

The MLE Koby ship sailed long, long ago. Koby’s mission now has to be to continue his special visa. He MUST renew it and in order to do so, he has to show his special talent not to anyone here but to the US Government. What he is doing, no matter what you think of it, will likely fulfill those qualifications. He must have figured out a way to live on what he is earning to have stayed in New York this long and likely will be able to do so for another two years. But I think five years total is what he has. He always said he would stop if CE affected his health. Who is to say that his health is better precisely because he doesn’t have to push himself like a Joey. He is absolutely outstanding as an eater and even though Joey came up to his prowess in hotdogs, I still think he could give Joey a run in other foods as well as others. He will always be Top Dog to me whether first second or third in the talent department. For the rest, history is history being written and re-written.

Kobi Fan: You guys are just so brainwashed it’s mind boggling. Kobi’s already signed his rights over to a more restrictive contract with a single food producer. Hofmann’s, a company’s that has already proved to limit Kobi’s opportunities in that he hasn’t done a single event outside of Hofmann’s for nearly a year. So, you are okay with that. But you’ve got a problem with Kobi signing a contract with the MLE that can offer Kobi the opportunity to eat with multiple top food products, the best eaters in the world, first class accomodations, top prizes, world travel, and the most proffessionally run events. No wonder Kobi’s career is going down the toilet, with friends like you offering him advice he’ll be lucky to be selling hot dogs at a stand in Korea Town next year.

OJ: No time for Tweets, Frank Zaccanelli’s been busy in the kitchen trying to prepare Kobayashi’s special brand of hot dogs.
