Congratulations SyKo. That’s a lot of oysters.

It’s refreshing to see people saying good things about one another on various eaters’ Web sites. Not counting the MySpace pages, that’s why my favorite personal sites maintained by competitive eaters are Sonya’s and Juliet’s, because they don’t dwell on the negative.

I also really like the games on Cookie Jarvis’ site, especially “Smack the Penguin.”

When it comes to a plethora of CE news, you can’t beat this one. When it comes to editorializing and expressing his opinion, BB is all over it.

If I were to start one, which I have thought about, but I won’t, mine would probably be closer to Brian’s than anyone else’s.

    I’ll never make a CD though. I can’t carry a tune in a basket.

HAHAHA,thanks Rhonda for the support….I said…,no i didnt forget a decimal place,i really ate that (nothing compared to what Sonya has done in Oysters, but it was great for me)…i fianlly figured out a good pre-event strategy instead of starving myself for 2 days (like my dumbass did for waffles)…to quote the Great Eric “Badlands” Booker i was Hungry and Focused…in fact i kept thinking about that and it seemed to help, plus the fact that it was a local event.I know if the pros were there it would have been a different story, but at least i found something im pretty good at eating wise.Have A Nice Day 🙂

If that 181 was extrapolated over 10 minutes, you would have a very respectable total on your hands. If MLE does go through with doing the ACME oyster contest again, I hope to see you there! I really, really want to eat oysters competitively.

You know SyKo it is ridiculous for anyone to allow himself to feel disappointed just because he doesn’t win or finished so many behind the top one, two, or three.

You mentioned Eric (Booker) so I’d like to use him (his attitude) as an example. When Eric competed he certainly didn’t win every time, and as Luther would say, sometimes he even “lost to a girl!” Well, it seems to me that Eric always took everything in stride and enjoyed the company, comaraderie, and fellowship of the other eaters. From what I have observed from the periphery, Eric never seemed to feel down or lose confidence just because he didn’t win or finished lower than he would have liked. Eric always seemed just as happy for those who finished ahead of him, as he was for himself when he won.

You can’t be disappointed unless you choose to be. Nobody can “make you” that way. (I know of no person on this earth with THAT much power.) No one is going to win every contest–not Joey, not Pat, not Kobayashi; and they’re currently the best in the world.

So, again, congratulations! So you didn’t eat a total that Sonya or some of the others “might” have eaten. Well so what? One hundred eighty one oysters is 181 oysters, a total of which no “Joe Bag-o-Donuts” off the street is going to down. And even when you finish near the back of the pack in an MLE event. So what? The people you were chasing are some of the very best in the world! Being there makes you part of that company!

Just keep chasing them and have fun running. As time goes by you may just start catching one or two of them. But even if you don’t you’re chasing the best in the world and that takes guts!

(P.S. Watch SyKo, somebody on this site will chime in within the next few days and slam me because my posts are too long. But, hey, I’m enjoying life along the way. That’s what life’s about.)

SyKo the Acme oysters in NO are eaten one-by-one with a cocktail fork out of the half-shell.

okay thanks,i thought so..Sonya was lightning fast in that event,i think it was about 1.1 – 1.2 seconds an oyster…lets see if you take 45 dozen, divided by 10 minutes, carry the 1 then if johhny gives 7 apples to betty, how many apples will he have when he gets to california?????
