Major League Eaters in Milwaukee July 12
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s food blog has an entry about a contest scheduled for Saturday:
A three-person team from local Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich outlets will be attempting to make sandwiches faster than a team of three world-class, competitive Major League Eaters can eat them. It’s called the Freaky Fast Sandwich Making and Eating Contest.

Summary
The Jimmy John’s Freaky Fast Sandwich Making and Eating Contest will feature three of the fastest sandwich makers going head-to-head against Tim “Eater X” Janus, Tim “Gravy” Brown and rookie sensation Mike “the Hammer” Fitzgerald to see which team is faster.

Look out Jim Hammer Hamrick, there’s a new Hammer on the block. Appearing at the July 12 Jimmy John contest will be Mike “the Hammer” Fitzgerald. Jim is no Joey, but come on, let’s give him some respect. Next there’ll be another “Jaws”, and maybe another “Black Widow” too. New eaters shouldn’t be allowed to use the same names as existing eaters.

Sandwhiches are the mostest awesomest food group. That sounds like alot of fun. Gots to gets me some sandwhiches….

HELLO FELLOW GRUBBER’S, I have been studying food eating contest and those that can eat mass amounts in a set limit for a little over a year now as I finish my masters in Sacramento. I have really been watching Suzanne “Suzilla” and not only the fact she eats so much more then those she is facing but the backlash she gets from the viewers who don’t think she is for real…..why? I started a report last semester on how a a grubber like Joey Chesnut has the fans at his feet, and someone like Suzanne has viewers throwing insults…..why? I was able to travel to Stockton during the 2011 Asparagus Festival and watched Joey chomp down 9lbs 8oz. of the fried asparagus and I was an instant fan, so I think it is more of who a person is then what the person eats, right? Did Suzanne piss people off by finding a cable organization to pick her up and travel with her to locations without paying her dues? Is it the fact she is beautiful and as nice to look at as a rack of ribs? I will graduate in June 2012 and keep working at the same location I have been at for a decade….making more money of course $$ but I will still be traveling to eating contest amazed at how someone can push past the signals of the brain to stop eating…..and I will still be the number one fan of Suzanne because she pushes past the HATERS.
