Man vs. Food on Travel Channel Dec 3

(From Kevin Ross email) A web page has been set up for the Travel Channel series Man vs. Food. The program will feature Adam Richman traveling around the country to attempt restaurants’ eating challenges. The first two episodes will be televised on December 3 and the locations will be Amarillo, Texas (Big Texan Steak Ranch) and Memphis (The Big Foot Lodge). A list of all locations is available on the website.

Earlier this year, a producer placed a casting call on eatfeats for a host for the show.

Don’t forget little known Machesney Park, Illinois, a westen suburb of Chicago. Home to Pug Dog’s Diner, home to the one and a quarter pound hot dog, served with all the fixins, yes thats right, 1.25 pounds.

Machesney Park is not a western suburb of Chicago. It’s located 90 miles northwest of the city, and if it could even be considered a suburb at all, it would be of Rockford, not Chicago. Having seen some people from there, I am not surprised at all about a 1.25 pound hot dog.

I think he should go to a bar and grill in Sylva, N.C. They do hot wngs one night a week there and there is some wings called ” Derrel Wings”, that I know he could not eat six of them. They are so hot that they melt the flesh off of the back of the throat. That would be an eating challenge I would love to see.

Yeah! I want even more celebrations of masochism and gluttony! I’d like to see one where Adam Whathisfatass takes the “spray a whole can of mace down your throat” challenge, followed by the “eat cheeseburgers until you rupture your intestines” ram-down.

The Travel Channel is in some sort of weird fetishistic rut with these pig-out shows. Another great example of the American tendency to ignore quality for sheer quantity – an indication of our pathetically adolescent, self centered society and our cohort lack of taste…Doesn’t do much for our justifiably bad reputation overseas in so many ways, and particularly for our gluttony for all the worlds resources. Pathetic…
