Maria "The Incredible Sulk" has a blog entry about setting the house record of 21 hot dogs at Big Daddy's Hot Dogs in Pompton Lakes, NJ. She also has a report on eating 8.5 hot dogs at a Spike's Junkyard Dogs in Boston to win a T-shirt. (Greg "The Great Moomsi" Maloomian and an unnamed woman have set house records of 17 at Boston Spike's).

It’s almost crazy that all you get for setting a house record is a T-shirt…

At both Big Daddy’s and Spike’s, if you beat the house record, you get a shirt AND the food is free. Dogs are around $2 at Big Daddy’s and well over $3 at Spike’s, so you’re getting over $40 worth of free food if you beat the house record. At Spike’s, you get a t-shirt if you eat six or more, but you have to pay for the dogs.

Thanks for clearing this one up! I know of a couple “house record” challenges in California that feature no prize but a pic on the wall.
