Matt Stonie’s Spike’s hot dog record broken?

The Spring 2012 issue of SUMOSkinny has a list of Boston eating challenges (page 5) reporting that the same woman holds the house hot dog record at all Spike’s Junkyard Dogs Boston locations. If that is accurate, Matt Stonie’s Spike’s record with 23 hot dogs set in late 2010 has been surpassed. A commenter on a 2009 livejournal entry encountered the record-holder at Spike’s during an attempt to surpass her mark, who said she would come in the next day to reclaim her record if it was broken.

Boston.CBSlocal.com has a list of eating challenges and an iPhone/Android app for locating challenges.

This is probably one of those err’s in reporting used to make the article bigger then it is. Also gotta factor since Stonie’s from CA and shes a local, I would sound horrible in an article to add “but a kid from CA came and has the overall record”

Not to be rude or anything but I think maybe they confused stonie for a female because of his long hair?

Matt should put on a disguise and change his name and qualify as a female. Then he’ll win first place in that division.

The overall record is now 26, set at the North Attleboro (Emerald Square Mall), Massachusetts location. I just called them to get that info. I do not know whom it was set by or when.

According to this the record was still 23 in early 2014, so it was broken in the past year if that is accurate

Interesting. When I called, the employee there said it was 26, with authority. Maybe I should call back and ask who and when! Or maybe The Knurd article you mentioned above just referred to the Allston location?

Curiously, your post today about Boston area eating challenges (http://eatfeats.com/boston-globe-eating-challenges-list.html) links to a Boston Globe article which has the Spikes-Allston challenge listed. There the owner says the men’s record is 15 and women’s record is 12. Apparently, they forgot about or discounted the Matt Stonie record of 23? I called that location an hour ago, and they just told me the house record there was 15.

Well, I just called the North Attleboro (Emerald Square Mall) location again today. This time they said the record there was 18, but that the company-wide record was “somewhere in the mid-20’s”.

Did the record holder use the mens, womens or lady-boys restroom?
