The MLE facebook lists five entrants in the St. Patrick's Day corned beef eating contest at TooJay's in South Florida: Joey Chestnut, Pat Bertoletti, Sonya Thomas, Bob Shoudt and Ben Monson.

    My picks for the order of finish:

    1. Chestnut
    2. Monson
    3. Bertoletti
    4. Shoudt
    5. Thomas

    But like Rhonda said, you can put those names in a hat and pull them out at random and no order would surprise me. (Except maybe Sonya finishing one or two. I really don’t think she can do that against this line-up.)

    I like to see people make predictions. It’s “ballsy” and it makes things interesting.

    I don’t see Joey winning (though he certainly can).

    Though this isn’t Sonya’s best food, she has the capability to finish in the top three, especially if there’s no dunking, which I think is the case. Over the last half dozen contests or so, going back to Labor Day last year, she seems to have no shortage of confidence.

    That quality will decide the winner, more than any other—-confidence.

    This will be a very exciting contest. I wish I could see it in person. Everyone I think will push themselves to the limit. I think Bertoletti is the proven favorite for this type of food, but obviously it is anyone’s game. Kick some butt Ben!

    This is almost like a preview of Nathan’s minus Kobey…

    I’ve yet to see Ben eat sandwiches (in comp or in person if memory serve correctly…) In my biased opinion I’d really like to see Ben or Pat take it, but I’m sure Joey is pretty motivated to redeem himself for flautas and still did really well at Krystals (Sandwich food), and then of course you can never count Bob out of any comp.

    can’t wait to see the results, I’d love to go to this just to watch. If were to compete I might just pull a Jed Donahue, eat one sandwich sit back and watch the other 5 go at it.

    I don’t think anyone should sell Ben “short” in this contest, but Joey does need to prove himself for what happened at flautas.
