I think it would be appropriate to give BB an honorary spot at the table for once, with all he has given to competitive eating over the last decade. He has done more than his part to put the “CE” in “IFOCE,” and he has asked for very little.
It’s just the right thing to do.

Thanks but it will never happen, besides i always felt i should earn my way to the table. No freebies. As far as getting anything in return, i never expected anything from anyone. Aside from beeing somewhat peeved about declining CD sales and lack of PPV support for my internet show, my goal from the beginning was to entertain the competitive world during lull times with the website and the tv show. I never intended for any of this to have a dollar sign attached to it. As you can see i never sold a teashirt or a mug and when the opportunity arises i usually toss out free cd’s to the crowd. There were a few tv spots where i could have been useful but my name was passed over. I could understand the logic involved. I am a oldtime eater that never lived up to the hype. You cant question the motives of the IFOCE and the Shea’s when it comes to who is right and who is wrong for the media. I dont agree with some of their decisions but they run the show and if they feel thats what makes good business sense then thats that.

RJ what planet do you live on or are you just fucking with us? Nathans has lost its luster. $100 replacing the $300 worth of delicious natural case hot dogs is one step backward. Next step will be the elimination of unncessasary qualifiers. It will come down to kobe chestnut and maybe bertoletti while everyone else ends up eating hot dogs for wloce
RJ said (Registered August 28, 2008)

Well – I live on planet Earth, and have no intention of beating Kobe, Chestnut or Bertoletti. I could give a shit about the prizes and in all honest could care less which league sponsors the event. I like to eat competitively, have dramatically improved my own performance and would like to at a minimum, participate in the qualifier. I would be ecstatic to actually qualify and make it to Coney on July 4th, where I could care less if I placed 20th. I enjoy the activity, and don’t share the same disdain for the IFOCE as many of you here do. All I am asking is how long it usually takes to find out if you have been chosen to participate in the qualifier. How that is fucking with anyone, is beyond my understanding. I am positive there are eaters on this board who have eaten in multiple qualifiers before for Nathan’s and could answer the question, so I don;t feel that it is so incredible a question, that it warrants your response.

RJ, don’t let the negative people who post here get you down on competitive eating. They have lost sight of that this is supposed to be fun! As far as how long it takes to hear back after registering for something, that is pretty unpredictable. Sometimes they confirm something so close to the event that it makes travel plans pretty difficult. But sometimes they confirm quickly, well in advance. It just varies and I haven’t really found much of a pattern 🙂

BB I think you HAVE earned a spot at the final table. CE performance should not just be about how many HDBs you eat in 10 minutes. I think you’ve done enough in 10 years to merit a special guest appearance. And I guarantee you’d eat more dogs than William Perry and you deserve it more.
I said
April 7, 2009 @ 3:30 pm
rhonda why do you insist on beating the dead horse?!? you only deserve a spot at any final table if you earn that spot. and those are earned by qualifying. he knows it. even you know it. he can be honored before or whatever with an award or something but he doesnt deserve a spot. and i bet the sheas realize their mistake with perry and will never do something like that again. nathans and now krystals are moneymakers and not simply games anymore.

To any and all: Name me one eater who has been relentlessly contributing to CE for the past 10-12 years, who has NOT been to Coney other than Beautiful Brian. You can’t, because that person doesn’t exist.
Cookie, Badlands, Godfather, Moses, and Krazy Kev have all been pioneers in CE, and they’ve all been to the big table. Yet, no one, and I repeat … no one … has given as more of his time, energy, and heart to competitive eating as Beautiful Brian Seiken!
Again, if anyone thinks the man hasn’t earned the right to appear on Coney as a one-time guest it’s because the person thinking that is either jealous, a moron, a self-centered jackass or all three. Give me a flippin’ break!
It’s the right, honorable thing to do.

I agree with Rhonda. MLEIFOCE should reserve one spot at the table for a competitor chosen by the Sheas. Maybe its a legend or a rising star who missed the wild card by a few HDBs. Or maybe its to honor someone like BB who, like Rhonda says, earns a spot at the table (yes, earns it), by giving so much of himself to the sport. Or maybe, two weeks before the event, they can let the eaters choose who gets to fill that last spot at the table! (Wait, giving the eaters a say in things? That’s just crazy talk.)

Wow thanks. Mom and dad never even praised me that way. For 60 seconds i felt like Elvis. . All kidding aside it would be an honor but i have to earn my way in like everyone else or it just wouldnt be the same. The names that you just mentioned are the real pioneers of the sport. It would give me greater pleasure knowing that i was responsible for enhancing their character & persona through my website . I never got a chance to say this about Cookie, Badlands, Moses and Kevin but in all the years i competed with them, not once did any of them try to make as ass of themself at the table . Not once did they engage in stupid trash talk or slamming the table unlike a few others. That to me is great sportsmanship . Thanks again for the kind words

Thanks for sticking up for a worthwhile cause Mega. (You don’t see much of that on this board.) As usual, you think things through and your words make sense.
Many of the ones who agree with me are either too timid to post how they feel or they don’t want to rub the Sheas the wrong way because for fear that they might lose the extra benefits they’re adorned with. I can’t say I blame them, but too often the price of allegience compromises principle. Life does get confusing sometimes.

Don’t knock yourself with the choice words. The negative remarks originate from the morons that i insulted over the years on my website only because they deserved it.This is their way of getting even. I make believe they dont exist Unfortunatly they wil remain anonymous until they either drop dead or mommy takes away their internet priviledges . . Krachie got in in 2000 because Devito gave up his spot for him. Krachie was special like Mickey Mantle so they made a special provision for him. Don attempted to give up his 2002 spot for me which i considered an act of true friendship, but it was nixed by IFOCE.

Ed Krachie was someone who had previously won at Coney.
The Fridge was paid to be there.
While he did a piti ful job at the table, it was more than worth it publicity wise.
They also claimed he qualified, but no one believes that.

Booker Jarvis Hardy & Lerman were very good eaters but when Sonya , Chestnut Bertolletti and the gang came along , it even made them look bad. If they made them look bad imagine how it made Seiken look . . Think about that one !

I never got a superbowl ring which is why it’s not fair to compare me to Refrig Perry. He was used as a publicity stunt because he was well known and might have brought in a few fans. He ate 4 hot dogs and one or two slices of trip rewards cake in grand central station because he got his appearance fee and he could care less. I’ll never be a world wide icon but being recognize in the competiive eating world by all of you is almost the same and an honor as far as i’m concerned. All i know is that i kicked ass today!
