Nathan’s weigh-in tomorrow?
Does anyone know if the traditional July 3 weigh in for Nathan’s finalists will take place tomorrow? I have not been able to find any coverage online about that event. The IFOCE.com websites have yet to be updated with any information about the upcoming Nathan’s finals (or Kevin Ross’ qualifier victory).

I’d like to know that too. There’s not even anything on the MLE Web site profiling the eaters. It’s as if the IFOCE could not care less. If they do, they have a hell of a way of showing it. I’ve seen few things like this BS in my life. And they want more fans?
No wonder the Olympic Committee people think CE is a joke. The IFOCE doesn’t even buy into the BS themselves.

There will be a weigh-in at NY’s City Hall around noon.

Agree 100 percent, Rhonda. The IFOCE/MLE/SHEAS are dropping the ball when it comes to online marketing. They could be doing so much more, like, I don’t know, actually promoting Nathan’s (the Super Bowl of competitive eating) on the IFOCE website.

Where will the contest be held if it is raining? The current forecast for NYC on Friday is rain with thundershowers?

Thanks MM. Marketing seems so very basic to selling any product. It would put more dollars in IFOCE pockets too. Perhaps it’s (their less than ambitious marketing) because they haven’t the resources — –time, manpower, etc. But if they really believed in their product, it seems they would make it a priority.
Look at Sonya, just as an example. She’s not only, by far, the greatest female gurgitator who ever lived, she’s out-eating not only 90 % of the males, she’s not only ranked # 6 in the entire world (she got shafted there), but most of the people she readily out-eats are nearly or more than twice her size.
Granted, she’s not number 1 or challenging for that spot. And, absolutely, that’s where the primary storylins absolutely should come from. Sonya is still amazing, and better than ever. And if I were running the show on July 4th, I would market Nathan’s with many sub plots, in addition to the showdown for number 1 supremacy:
1. Sonya: Can the greatest female ever be the first to do the double deuce?
2. Tim (42 in the qualifier) vs Pat (41 in his qualifier) … who will triumph?
3. Juliet Lee: Can this second best female eater do the tre?
4. Leaderboard: Show the top 10, not just the top five.
5. Humble Bob: Can he do the double deuce also?
6. From time to time show various eaters with their previous personal best numbers and whether or not they are on pace to surpass them.
These are just off the very top of my head, and I’m no marketer, but I think it’s worth the time and effort. Different people look for different storylines, and by hyping multiple ones, there should be a synergistic effect.
If I’m being stupid or ridiculous tell me. But I can’t believe such efforts would not pay dividends, both for the organization, the sport, AND the eaters.

It really warms my heart to read that there is actually something you cannot find any info about. You spend your entire life surfing the web looking for anything relating to competiive eating and you can’t find a thing about the weighin? Maybe if you stop being a loner and align yourself with some of the ifoce members you might get some inside info

Shocked …. he or she may be more aligned than you think.
If you think OJ’s entire staff appears each time OJ looks in the mirror, you’re probably mistakened (unless he or she is some sort of machine or alien, because no one human can possibly find and post all the information on this site in a timely manner).
Anyway, I love and appreciate the plethora of information presented on this site. It’s to competitive eating as the Wall Street Journal and Barrons are to business.

that’s correct Rhonda. OJ , Shea, Nerz, Rhonda are all one and the same on this website . Right?

If you believe I’m part of that, then “Shocked” is a most appropriate handle for you.

Wow. All of the people who usually post here must be at the weigh-in.
