The new poll asks what you think will happen in the Nathan’s finals on July 4.

    You had made requests for qualifier predictions months back. Who was the closest?

    There is more drama in this than all the other July 4th events combined. I have to say that if Joey wins he will certainly deserve it. HOWEVER, I still have to go with Koby. He has more than answered the challenge each time Joey has gone after him.

    He improved by 40 % last year in the Brats contest, going from 69 in 2005 to 97 in 2006 to beat prevail. I know Joey can likely eat 63 or more HDBs, but if Koby improves by 40 % in dogs, just using 50 as a base (vs 53 3/4), and to keep the math simple, that would give him 70.

    All this, however, is assuming his jaw is not an issue. Unless it causes Koby moderate pain, look for Koby to do whatever he has to do to pull it out in the final minutes. Koby will earn even more respect after this contest.

    Expect three of these four to do over 40: Bertoletti, Sonya,, Janus, and Chip. Pat B could possibly do 48-50. Humble Bob will likely do 34+.

    Joey will win,
    Koby will try valiantly – but jawritis will set in about the eight minute mark – Sometime during the contest there will be a refernce to the Four Horsemen of the Esophogus
    Artruro will be wearing the Eatercam
    Crazy Legs will probably clinch the “Best Dressed Eater” Award
    The Sonya – Juliet matchup will be mentioned four times
    Boone will be shown when they mention the sport’s strange personalities
    Pat Bertoletti will set a new personal best
    Don Lerman will have one of the all-time greatest outfits ever
    Badlands Booker will sweep the crowd in a frenzy
    Bubba and I will finish the Peachtree Road Race
    A new record for hot dogs eaten in a final will easily be set
    No one will eat less than 20, except the giant dude

    And….my predictions on my blog will be 95% correct, with the Jawritis factor possibly making them 78% wrong
