New Poll: classic rock themed eating contest

BeautifulBrian.com has a podcast in which he plays segments from classic songs from the 1960s and 1970s while providing commentary and historical information.

Keeping in line with that theme, the new poll asks what classic rock song should an eating contest be based on. Youtube videos of the songs in the poll are listed below.

Jimmy Buffet “Cheeseburger in Paradise”: official video
King Crimson “Larks’ Tongues in Aspic”: 1972 performance
Led Zeppelin: “Custard Pie”: slide show
Squeeze “Pulling Mussels From the Shell” official video
Steely Dan “Black Cow” : 2003 performance, documentary
The Beatles “Savoy Truffle”: slideshow of Beatles eating
The Rolling Stones “Brown Sugar”: 1971 TV appearance
The Who “Heinz Baked Beans”: homemade video
U2 “Lemon”: official video
Van Halen “Ice Cream Man”: 1983 US Festival, 2007 tour

OJ hit it right on the head with Beatles Savoy Truffle. That song should have been played at either keylime pie or tiramasu contest. Van Halen ice cream man is a great song but Savoy Truffle is the ultimate desert.

Wasn’t this poll discussed before? I remember someone mentioning the B-52’s Rock Lobster.

All right. How about the theme song of former / late WWF wrestler known as The Junk Yard Dog (JYD): “Grab Them Cakes!”

Or if Sonya and Legs ever do another seafood contest in Maine, perhaps they might like “Rock Lobster” by the B-52s.

The next time Koby does cow brains, perhaps he might like to hears “Sick Things” by Alice Cooper.

What about “Fish Heads” by Barnes and Barnes (A Dr. Demento show radio classic)?

I’m getting stupid here, so I’ll stop.

Paul and Pat, great work digging up those old tunes. A candy contest seems like the most interesting and most likely to happen. It also hasn’t been done before (has it?). Maybe chocolate bars. Or licorice. Or taffy. Taffy would be fun.
