New Poll: lowest KSO V wildcard

The new poll asks what you think will be the lowest wild card for the Krystal Square Off finals. Last year’s cutoff was 41 burgers, but that number might increase because the number of qualifiers and wild cards have been reduced.

All I care is that it is higher than 55.

If you can’t do at least 50 you shouldn’t show.

I am anxious to test one eaters theory that whatever your max is in white castle , its doubled with Krystals. I dont know if i can agree . I have never competed in Krystals but i have eaten them and they are better tasting than White castles. After the myrtle beach contest in april , a bunch of us ate at the only krystal restaurant in SC . I asked the cashier which burgers she prefers and she replied white castle hands down! Go figure

    BB,
Are you competing in a Krystal qualifier? I think the Krystal and the other mini burgers are the same weight and size. I have had both and personally I don’t notice much of a difference between speed and capacity. The texture may be a little slower with the wcs, but that may have been because they were frozen and I had to heat them up. To me the hardest part is to get the Krystals out of the box. That wastes more time than any texture difference. I hope you can double up with the Krystals, but unless you have extremely nimble fingers and just rock with Krystal burgers I would say the totals should be pretty similar. Good luck! I’ll be watching to see what happens.

The krystals I think weigh a bit more than the white castles. I think I recall Humble Bob saying last year that he thinks white castle cheeseburgers are a good approximation to make the weight even. I think the microwave ones get a funny texture like you said Hall. I’ve never had a REAL white castle. The krystals were nice because they were cooked properly. I can’t imagine much of a difference between a properly prepared white castle and properly prepared krystal. Especially when trying to eat fast and soggy/dunked, who can really tell the difference. Nothing can really be that tasty eaten that way.

Kevin– are you competing this year?

I’ll be there Hall. I have eaten Krystals on two separate occasions for pleasure not competition and i did notice there was less grease and they were somewhat better tasting than white castles. Quite dissapointed that you feel that there isnt much of a difference in white castle and krystals. I was hoping that the rumor about doubling your max total from white castles with krystals was true.

No, I am not signed up to do a krystals qualifier. If I lived closer and the travel expense wasn’t so great, I would certainly do it as the krystal people are really awesome and it’s a fun contest – but I knew I wouldn’t be prepared to put up a number big enough to have a shot to make it to the final. Maybe next year. I’ll be doing tamales though on the weekend of krystals, which should be pretty cool.

Krystals are definitely faster than white castles and if you can do 50 wc’s, than 60 krystals should be no problem.

The White Castle burger is only 8% smaller than the delicious Krystal burger. If you eat 20 greasy White Castle bombs, that converts to approximately 21 1/4 Krystals….all those expecting to double their White Castle output can expect to be disappointed at their totals, but delighted at the much better taste of the south’s super burger.
If you are riding in a small car on the drive home, and have passengers, the after-effects of both burgers are remarkably similar, so keep the windows open.
