Since the Nathan's finals started awarding cash prizes in 2007, all prizes have been claimed by Joey Chestnut, Pat Bertoletti, Takeru Kobayashi, Tim Janus, Bob Shoudt and Sonya Thomas. Sonya Thomas will not be competing in the men's division and Takeru Kobayashi will not compete at all, which will free up a space for a first-time prize winner in the men's division. The new poll asks who you think that will be.

great poll… and it’s really hard to say because outside Joey, X, Pat and Bob… the rest of the field are so darn close based on this years qualifying numbers
Sean – 30
Erik – 29
Brown/Osthoff – 28
Philbin/Morgan – 27
Wells – 26.5
Davekos – 25
assuming Micah Collins wins fishkill he’s also done – 27
there is no clear cut front runner there, I think it all really comes down to who has the better day… but if I had to choose one, I’d say Denmark with Brown & Gordon a very very close second.

I had to go for Aaron Osthoff (Adrian was a close second.). Aaron’s still learning how to speed-eat.
Gravy is good, but he has learned about all he’s gonna. Same for Big Brian, Erik D., and Pete D.
In eatfeats posters’ vernacular, they’ve already shot their collective wads.

You’ve still got it goin’ on Pat! You’re a credit to CE, and I’ve always been a fan of yours.

Checkin in here right after Rhonda who always makes me laugh. And Pat from the Moon, you are just full of pep and vinegar. Yes, even I am not as salty as Rhonda though I do love the ladies. Very interesting observation Rhonda about eaters having learned all they can. I never thought of that but of course, that is so logical. Pat, I hope you get some hard earned bucks, true for all eaters, though the bucks stop early.

Pat, I noticed (as of 10:10 EST) all the “Recent Comments” belong to us. What do you say we just banter back and forth and dominate this site?
We can rule this sucka! 🙂

I really like that idea. Will bow out for now. Pat has always been one of my favorites too, so glad to see you at the table this year. You come off sometimes as a really goofy guy which you are in part, but you are also incredibly intelligent as witnessed by your writing at others times. Keep bantering you two.

Rhonda,
interesting theory, I would have to say that Aaron and Adrian if they continue to progress have the most potential to be in the money, but if Brown and Denmark have already plateaued out and their numbers are still better then Aaron’s (as of right now) what makes you think he will beat them THIS year? Also why didn’t you mention Sean Gordon? His numbers have slowly been creeping up each year, sure not at the rate of say Joey or Pat but has improved none the less… Is he just one of those guys you forget is there or is it because Adrian and Aaron are the hot topic newbies right now?
Like I mentioned above, everybody is so close (1-1.5HDB’s separates the next eater) I think it’s who ever is “In the Zone” that day gets in the money, maybe Brown parties to hard the night before and he’s so hung over he can’t see straight, while Adrian wakes up ready to destroy the world. It’s all going to interesting to see how it all pans out between Sean, Erik, Brown, Osthoff, Philbin, Morgan, Wells, Davekos and who ever wins Fishkill…
I think the biggest mystery here (obviously he’s not a top contender too be in the money, but he also wasn’t supposed to have a chance in Hawthorne either) is Wells, can he improve on his number or will he be a one hit wonder? If you want to talk about someone who is still learning how to speed eat I think you can lump him in with Aaron and Adrian, the guy falls of the face of the earth, doesn’t compete in almost a year and puts up 26.5 out of nowhere? He’s also the least experienced eater at the table if the amount of IFOCE contests are a gage of experience… just sayin
I think the odd man out (and this isn’t being said with disrespect because he’s a good eater) is Brian Subich who hasn’t hit the mid to upper 20’s in a few years…

Rhonda you already rule this site . As for Pat if he didnt make it to Nathans this year he would not be bantering with you. More like no comments at all . Obvious he is happy

I’m a fan of competitive eating NIC, too much theory takes the fun out of it.
Anyway, I stand by what I said. I didn’t say it for nothing.

Pat,
Don’t sweat it, at least “Other†has votes.
I could care less about prize money, I’m more excited to go to NY for the first time, I imagine it to be exactly like the movie “Coming to America†staring that guy who used to be famous and Arsenio Hall dressed in drag.
I’m most excited to meet eaters I’ve yet to meet on the circuit (maybe if I competed more this wouldn’t be so) like Tim Brown who is by far the my favorite and most colorful of the eaters (not colorful in a peacock way though… unless he thinks that’s a complement then yes, colorful in a peacock way), hopefully he can sign my kids head so we can get it permanently tattooed after the contest. Also Pete Davekos mainly because I love Boston accents, I hope he says the word “Chowda†a lot when I’m in his presence because I’ll lol each and every time! And of course you, Pat, just don’t make eye contact with me and we won’t have any problems…
See each and every one of you in Coney! Except for J. Lee, court order says I need to stay within a 500 foot distance of her at all times.
