    lol….right on cue.

I’m with Luther…sort of. I really don’t think a woman will ever win Nathan’s, not because they’re not capable, but just because true female competitive eating talent is INCREDIBLY rare. Of the hundred or more or good to great eaters who have come and gone from the IFOCE ranks over the last 10 to 15 years, only three have been women (Carlene, Sonya and Juliet). The chances of another woman coming along who can eat like Sonya (Juliet still has work to do) is 1,000 to 1 or more.

Women just don’t get into CE the same way men do because, in our society, gorging yourself publicly isn’t something women like to do. There may be great female competitive eaters out there, but we’ll never know because they’re too shy to step up to the table.

It’s no coincidence that the only three women to achieve greatness in the sport are an older woman (Carlene) who was tough as nails and didn’t give a damn what people thought and was inspired to compete alongside her husband, and two Asian women (Sonia and Juliet) whose cultural differences, thank goodness, didn’t prevent them from shying away from the sport the way Western women might. I could be totally wrong on the cultural observation…it might just be a coincidence…but that’s my guess.
