New Poll: second place in next IFOCE poll

The new poll asks who you think should be in second place in the next IFOCE poll. Some people think that Kobayashi was the rightful winner of Nathan’s, which could put Joey Chestnut in the second place position.

    at the buzzer, kobayashi still had like 1/2 a hotdog or however much in his hands while joey had chipmunked everything in his mouth…. as much as it was an exciting match, i don’t think koby won. joey did, and he repeated as champ.

    Joey won it, so he should be in the first position next year, but Kobayashi really made a comeback compared to last year, so I think (I hope) that he will take back the crown in the 2009 competition.

    The Japanese oogui eaters generally participate in long-form hour-long competitions, so the shortening of the time was more of a disadvantage for Kobayashi than it was for Chestnut. Despite that, Kobayashi tied in the main competition.

    why does everyone keep saying Koby cheated by having hot dog in his hands and eating it after the buzzer? Hello! Joey did the same thing I guess no one else noticed.

    Both Kobe & Joey bent the rules.

    Koby had that half dog in his mouth at the buzzer & made the mistake of taking it out.

    Joey put a dog and a half in his mouth after the buzzer.

    The dog off seemed like a cluster $%@# as well.

    IMHO Kobe won in regulation, but I can understand people thinking the opposite.

    Dr. Bigtime didn’t look as impressive as I thought he seemed in the past. Yes, i know that’s the pot calling the kettle, as my physical appearence is only better than 2? people on stage.

    Was that me, who entered 1st w/a hotdog martini??

    You have to look at the entire body of work to determine a fair ranking. Koby hasn’t eaten in months. By rights, he should drop. When a tennis player or golfer goes on the rack, their ranking falls and they earn it back over time based on results. To be fair, TK should be no higher than 5th behind Joey, Pat, X, and Sonya. If he comes back and puts up wins, then you can talk about him moving up to 2nd or 1st.

    Even if Koby had won outright, I don’t know if that would be enough to justify giving him the number one ranking. He doesn’t compete often enough to earn the top spot.

    I think it was because Joey chipmunked and Koby tried… but you can see that after the buzzer, when he took a drink, there was hot dog in his hand… not quite chipmunking… But who cares anymore. Joey won.

    Juliets a great eater regardless of the fact that shes well into her 50s. I would love to see her and Rich LeFevre start a seniors league. That would be great!

    Joey looked totally beat at the end of regulation. Koby looked as fresh as a daisy.

    Jill Stoler recieves a friends and family pass from the IFOCE then five minutes later darts around the corner to judge a hamburger contest for the aice. Next thing you know , she will be the first competitivce eater that will compete for two different organizations on the same day

    I can’t tell who won because the contest should be judged on the basis of who swallowed their food first and opened their empty mouths to prove it, instead of who raised their hand first with a mouth full of hot dogs, bread and water. Everyone from ESPN and advertisers to the IFOCE makes money. Unfortunately, the competitors and fans get hurt by lack of proper judging.

    How about they cut out the “hand over the mouth” stuff?!?!? Would have solved last years “question” about Koby’s reversal, it would have been obvious to the judges that missed it.
    Then they can cut out some of this chipmunking too.

    During the contest I saw hotdog and bun falling and all over Chestnut’s face and Kobayashi was clean, I don’t think they ate the same amount.

    Seniors league appears to be in the works . SLOCE You have to be 50 and over. seniors league of competiive eating, Some of the names that could be possible candidates somewhere down the line are lerman ,BB ,jarvis, krazy kev , juliet lee, allen goldstein, rich lefevre superpaul and hangman . They should be receiving their AARP cards in the mail . Some of them already have

    With all the complaints focusing on miscounts and judge errors where is Wild Bill when you need him? The inflated totals along with the the shaft job totals some of eaters like Rios and Davekos recieved, would not have occurred if The Wild one was at the table

    If Kobayashi is 2nd at dogs, 7th in Vegas, Bob is second at krystals, top 10 in hot dogs, Pat wins all except one Spike TV show, finishes top 5 hot dogs, third krystals, then Pat is second place – Koby needs to compete more this year – one second place – no matter how exciting, deserves second overall.

    We can move Kobayashi back over anyone because he is finally getting healthy, and he proved being healthier then last year allows him to still compete at a very high level. And I don’t want to hear about Kobayashi’s reversal last year, I admit it wouldn’t of mattered Chestnut would’ve won, but there should never be make up call and appears that could be what happened.

    I was watching the news friday night and one of the news storys was about about a man GIVING BRITH I almost throw up wen I heard this. Then wen they talked about the hot dog eating contest the sports caster said “that is gross” and the other news man said “just as gross as it was last year”

    So,hot dog eating contest are gross an men GIVING BRITH is alright

    Right now Joey and Koby are virtually equal. It would make no sense to place anyone in second place except Koby. You can’t count his Spike TV “performances” last year, because he didn’t even try.

    I think Tim will be placed ahead of Pat B if the rankings are changed prior to Krystals, given his Nathan’s qualifier and Finals results. But I don’t think Tim can touch Pat in most speed contests. At least not yet, but Tim Janus has made great strides in the past year or so.

    And G Joe, ouch. You didn’t see me flexing onstage because the cameras got all off time. It’s ok, though. I’ll be twice as huge at the Krystal finals, and put up 3 times as many burgers! Wurd.

    Is there anything that actually determines the rankings? Or do a few folks get together and come up with the list, behind closed doors and no one really has much of a say?

    NP, it’s very subjective. It’s the latter. Overall, I think they do a good job with them. When you’re ranking 50 people, there are bound to be at least a handful of people with dissenting opinions.

    What you have to keep in mins is that the rankings are just about exclusively determined by Nathan’s and Krystals. I’d say those two determine 95 % of the rankings placement.

    I could write a mini-dissertation on this, but I’ll spare everybody.
