The facebook event page for Bartolini's meatball eating contest on July 21 in Midlothian, IL lists Pat Bertoletti and defending champion as expected entrants. The pro division of the contest will award $4950 ($2500 to the winner). Entrants will need to eat 12 meatballs to attempt to qualify; the top 20 times will receive a contest spot.

    Pat will win this by a comfortable margin. The independents are going to become most disenchanted by Pat not re-signing with MLE. Apart from contests that Koby participates in also, Pat will win 90-100% of all contests he enters.

    And it makes sense that he would go independent, given the continued presence of Joey, the ascension of Stonie, and Miki being on the scene, Pat’s number of victories in MLE would be markedly down from the last few years.

    As an independent, he is free to run amok, destroying virtually everyone he faces!

    I dont think Pats gf would be in love with some of these posts. That said, and similar ad hominem & non-sequitur posts disregarded, Pat is mostly done with active competition. Hed like to prove points against some of the leading independents but dont look to him to become indy Joey.

    Rhonda with the fun once again. I am a fan for sure. Sonya has fast hands too but one wouldn’t make a tasteful comment about her. It is Pat’s personality that makes him so much fun. Leave people’s girlfriends and family out of comments, they do not belong here if the people are not eaters and even if they are, unless the people themselves publicize their relationship, it is just more muckraking. I do not know about the competitions and who would likely win but Pat leaving MLE feels not about what most people think, another defection. He is on to new things, his food truck, his career in eating. Like Rhonda said or others, a Pat doesn’t have to continue to harm his body for the long term, the rewards at this point are not worth it. He got everything he could from MLE and they from him.

    He honestly needs to stay out of indy competitions . If he wants to compete he needs to make his own contest like the last #2 IFOCE eater did when he defected . If he wants to do the Glutton Force thing then well, do that . You were the #2 eater in the world you have to bring something to the table other than just jumping in and taking independent purses . Just go back if that are your plans .

    Why “should” Pat stay away, other than it’s pissing off Indy eaters who have had an easy ride so far? It’s not like he’s taking money out of amateur pots. Dale Boone does/did WLOCE, Jamie did MLE events at one point, so did Torres and a lot of other now “independents”. If Pat weren’t winning, 436 wouldn’t be complaining. The whiners are obviously scared.

    Pat honestly doesn’t need to do anything other than what he wants to do. He decided not to be in MLE, stated it clearly, so did MLE, yet they mentioned him on ESPN, Sounds like a win win all around, grownups acting like grownups. He has a talent. If indys think they are amateurs so Pat should not play in their playgrounds, unless a sponsor of an event says no pros, he can play. If you compete regularly, in one way or another you are not an amateur.

    Rhonda I think this contest can go either way between Jamie and pat don’t count Jamie out. Knowing him he’s prob upset from the z burger contest and looking for pay back!

    Jamie is excellent. I’m not sure he’s as fast as Pat. Pat also has enormous stomach capacity.

    I don’t want to hurt Jamie’s feelings, but as a fan I’m just stating how I honestly feel when I state that in CE, I’m not sure how much sheer determination will help you, unless the that’s the only discriminator between two equally-matched competitors.

    I’ve been wrong plenty of times before; I’ll admit that; but I just cannot see Jamie beating Pat in this one—-and in Pat’s home state, to boot!
