Oh Dear, Steakaroonie. It seems that we both check in here but not all of the time. From what I have read about you and about him, you are nothing alike. I will let others take it from here but think it is Scott Bickel. He is full of himself but probably doesn’t have the capacity he thinks he does. We have to see him eat against a Pat and a Steak. I am thinking that you could take him to the mat too. That boy needs to wrastle with the truth.

Like Randy, this really made my day!

Pat’s quote is priceless (always entertaining that guy) but not as priceless as the final stats. I hope Pat shows Scott no mercy only to rub it in his face.

    Pat – 45 HDB’s
    Scott – 22 HDB’s

I really hope Scott doesn’t chicken out and no shows because of this.

Is it just me or does Scott Bickel look like Sloth from the Goonies? Scott being a lot less likeable and judging by his his facebook quotes a little slower then Sloth, it’s a “Rocky Road” to Nathan’s Scotty boy.

Scott did watch the movie 300 right? In the end 299 out of the 300 soldiers die, one eyed Willy being the only survivor…

Pat! Ready your Nathan’s Hot Dogs and buns and eat hearty… For June 2nd, Scotty dine’s in hell!

This reminds me of the scene in Raiders of the Lost Arc, when that Middle Eastern sultan-looking guy, upon confronting Indiana Jones in the street, pulled out this giant, ominous-looking sword and started wielding it around, in contemplation of doing Indy in. After a moment or two of watching this spectacle, Indy unceremoniously pulled out a pistol and busted a cap in his ass.

He just wasn’t in for all the bullshit. Pat won’t be either. This is so predictable.

Scott’s only gear will be reverse if he is even stupid enough to try to keep up with Pat.

Maybe he should watch the video from the Atlanta qualifier a few years ago with Pat and Dale Boone.

We, Clevelanders, know what its like to be kicked in the dick.
    Been there my whole life.
If Scott “Beefcakes” Bickel lives up to what he desires things will be sunny for at least 1 day in Cleve-O.
    Good luck Bickel.

This was before I even began my 12 hour regimen. But anyways, Tiny I thank you. Life is way too short and beautiful to just sit back and coast. If you want something you have to go out and get it. 99 percent of humans would have quit the very first day my first article came out and it was full of negative comments. I have never quit at anything I do and I never will. Life has taught me that people who talk actually help me in my life journey. I use all events and people to my advantage. If you have a dream, and you truly want it more than anything in the world…then its pretty simple…no matter what happens you will stay focused, driven, inspired, and the passion to do it with all your heart for good reasons. June 2nd, 2011 will be a day that lives with me forever. For everyone who has supported me in my life goals and dreams, I love you because of your help and trust. For all you haters out there, I love you too because its you guys that have helped to make me the man I am today. Good luck to all eaters out there and may the hardest working athletes win.

I am sure that Pat will bring along some sort of replica doll of scott pickle to throw darts at like he did with dale boone. You are giving this guy more publiciity than he deserves. Let him talk his shit and if he can back his words at the contest , then fine. I dont think you should pre judge a slaughter until after the contest. Its not fair to him and his religious trash talk. I always say let them show their stuff first and if it turns out to be just a lot of hype then he will be ignored in the future and so will his comments

That’s a nice overall statement Scott. Whatever the results, if you have given 1000%, that is something of which to be proud. It is not true that the hardest working athletes win though. There are other factors as well. Pursuing your dreams and giving it your all, that is the most positive approach to life. Followers of competitive eating notice more than people’s results, they notice people’s personalities and their character. A little humility is a good thing. Good luck to you and all eaters.

Beef I think you’re an overtly arrogant a**hole, and you deserve what you’re going to get.

But, as you suggest, perhaps that will propel you even further in your endeavors.

I cannot think of anyone in all of CE that I despise more than you. I’d pay to watch you get ripped a new ass, but I’m too far away.

It wouldn’t even take someone of Pat’s talent to do that. Pat’s overkill, and he’s probably more concerned about what color socks he will wear than he is your performance.

Don’t forget to bring your barf bag that you must be used to by now.

Rhonda you despise this kid more than BB? He is a kid for christ sake. Arrogant little tike, sure but it is not like he is the first CE person to come along and claim to be the best in the world or anything without backing it up. He is going to step up to the table and all will be revealed. Pat should dominate him but the hate is silly. It is like hating trains or flowers or my grandmother.

    May 20, 2011 @ 12:43 pm

No you have it WRONG. I DO NOT hate people. I might despise things they do or their personality, but I do not hate anyone.

I do, however, believe this young jackass will become an even bigger jackass as he ages, unless he wises up.

The turnip truck he fell off of is 10 miles down the road.

And I am done berating BB. I wish him the best!

I on the other hand do hate some people. I do not wish them ill will but some people are just not worth the dog crap I stepped in this morning. Damn dog. So you like my grandmother then? I will let her know.

how old is he anyhow? I mean i know i was a complete nut case, only partial now, till i was like 26. i thought i could crush the world with my will alone and lots of beer. I agree he does come off like a d-bag right now but if he did part the sea of hot dogs and win imagine the shock and awe. He is David to the Golith of MLE, Moses to the Pharoh. I really doubt it is going to happen though. But it would be a great tale if he did. Once he gets beat and then continues along the same lines as right now I would support your despise 100%. We all know how much my support means after all. Sine the world is ending tomorrow it is a moot point.

While I normally agree with Rhonda, on this one I’m a little torn. Hey, there’s no doubt that past statements from Bickel puts him at the top of the dumbass list. But he is young and naive. He clearly thought he could get by on rhetoric rather than performance. And the whole idea of the perception that he could just step in, take over the world and make money, without paying dues to the hard work of our ce’s forefathers, foresisters, and current true champions, struck me as very arrogant. However, after the beating he has taken publically and here on EATFEATS, his last post seemed to be toned down on the bullcrap. Hey, maybe this is one case where EATFEATS’ regulars taught this guy a lesson and forced him to look in a mirror about his actions in dealing with the media and posts on the internet. I’m not holding my breath that Bickel’s gonna turn from a zero into a hero. But I’m willing to keep an open mind and if he performs well, keeps his mouth shut, maybe he can change. However, to even speak about Bickel in the same sentence with someone of the talent and ability of Pat … well that you have to earn at the table son.

As someone who has met Bickel, he seems like a nice enough young man. (Damn, I’m getting old)

I have heard that he’s up to 27 hdb’s. My personal guess is that if that’s accurate, he’s not using competition level dogs.

Stop hating because he has the bravado of Boone. (to reporters) Our activity NEEDS characters like that.

Boone acts like an a$$, but atleast he’s an entertaining a$$.

I don’t think Bickel will do more than 25 hdb’s, but I do wish him well, & hope i’m wrong.

  43. Rhonda Evans said (Registered March 6, 2008)

    May 20, 2011 @ 3:14 pm

He’s too young to be talking so much smack. At least Boone had some experience in winning when he began talking smack. That I have no problem with, and I actually enjoyed that in Boone—-still do!

Were the lad to eat 30+ first and THEN start talking gibberish, I’d attend to him. But he has earned not one stripe with me as a competitive eater.

As such, he doesn’t deserve my respect right now, and for him to even sound like he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with against a proven eater like Bertoletti is a bit—-no, a helluva lot—-too much.

He’s setting himself up for a decibel-breaking thud when either he hits the wall or GETS hit by one, in the form of Deep Dish.

Like Deep Dish stated in a tweet, Scott will be his bitch in Cleveland!

  44. ojrifkin said (Registered July 27, 2005)

Scott Bickel could still try to qualify in Pittsburgh and possibly Charlotte if he can’t beat Bertoletti.

  45. Youngblood said

    May 20, 2011 @ 3:29 pm

Good point OJ about other qualifiers. Here’s where his smack talk can get him in trouble and should be a lesson for any young eater out there with visions someday of Coney. He talked himself up to get media for self promotion using the whole Cleveland Revival motif and I can win Coney to get media and fans behind him. Well that worked in the shortrun. But if he doesn’t win in Cleveland, people realize he’s not the second coming of LeBron and he’s not going to win Nathan’s. So, if never went down that path, and let the media progress with him naturally instead of forcing his image, it would of worked out better for him. Now it’s sink or swim, he has to win because he oversold himself early on. In addition the media doesn’t like to made of fool of, so trying to get attention to himself particularly in the Cleveland market will sound like crying wolf if he tries another venue. So, for all you young future Joey Chestnut’s out there watch what you say early on, it could come back to bite you. And 15 minutes of fame is not a career.

I doubt that Bickel was aware of the sign up procedure, and only signed up for Cleveland well after the sign-ups opened. Of course, if he does well in Cleveland, IFOCE will pretty much let him go wherever he wants. I hope they make him sign the contract BEFORE allowing him into the other contests, so other eaters who followed the sign-up procedure are not pushed out.

Hall Hunt is scheduled for the NC (Charlotte) qualifier, now I know Hall is has just got back into the game after a year off, but it won’t take him long to get back what he had before or at least close to what he had before with a little hard work. Hall should easly roll over Scott as well, unless of course Scott puts up something like 28-30HDB’s on June 2nd, then it might be interesting.

As far as Pitt goes, I haven’t seen or heard any news on who plans on being there, but with all the quality eaters that live in PA, my guess is Scott won’t get an easy win there either.
