Wow, that is way more sticky sandwiches than I would have guessed could be eaten in 10 minutes! Congrats, guys. I’ll be very interested to hear the details.

And oh man, El Toro. What a bummer.

It is official. El Toro is done. He quits CE. Look at the video and see for yourself. His own words say he is done as a CE’er. Maybe it was his hair. Trying to look like Crazy Legs got to him.

Looks like at least two eaters had a DQ on that event. One of them hanging over the balcony in the video. Maybe next time they will supply buckets.

IFOCE results are so predictable. I’ve come to the belief that Independent events are more fun, more fair, and more exciting. The AICE boasts MANY good eaters with relatively equal ability, thereby ensuring that a variety of eaters win. No one or two eaters dominate.

The ONLY interesting thing about Fed contests is anticipating how much the winner (Joey or Pat) will he wins. That’s it. (I do believe that will change in the next 6 months to 1 year, however, but for now it is how it is.)

It’s a damned shame that only the top two or three eaters at a contest get any money. That would change if only two or three eaters started showing up.

I always thought El Toro was bullish on PBJ sandwiches — the Merril Lynch of them, so to speak. Seriously though, I hope he stays in the game. because he makes the sport fun and lively. 🙂

How can anyone take Toro’s comment for more than just levity in an embarrassing situation. It isn’t like there was a press conference or statement made that he is retiring. Lighten up, people.

El Toro is wise to quit IFOCE. He would be smart to join AICE where he can make more money and win more titles. In IFOCE he will always be second, third and fourth banana

Not sure when the IFOCE will wise up and start paying out to at least fifth place. Look at shoofly. It paid out to fifth or sixth gave an upstart like Brad Scullio some money and a renewed fire in his belly. It’s the right thing to do.

ILKR, the predominance of Chestnut and Bertoletti taking turns dominating the rest of the competition will likely start to ebb in the coming year. They’ll both still be top eaters, but others will get closer to, and possibly exceed them, as a result of their declining totals (my projection only) and further improvement by others.

Eater X, Rich, Koby, and Sonya are rare exceptions.

I have a feeling it’s up to the promoter how they distribute the prize money, but that’s just my guess. But I wish they would have paid to 5th in this peanut butter contest because those things were pretty brutal and I wouldn’t have minded a couple hundred bucks to rationalize why I did that to myself, heh heh.

that may renew his fire but would it do anything for george????? if george and rich wont benefit then dont count on it ever happening….. like full results. can $hea$ benefit?????? no??????? ok case closed……

I totally agree MM. There have been some contests in the past, other than the majors, where the IFOCE paid out through eighth h place. Look at the payout structure for the January 2006 Barrick Burger contest, for example, where the individual payouts for the top eight finishers were as follows:

    1: $4,000; 2: $2,500; 3: $1,500; 4: $1,000; 5: $750; 6: $450; 7: $300; 8: $200.

El Toro is not quiting”””””. He just had a bad time… The bread was out too long and became stale, and he drank too much water…And the two cameras in his face asking all pretty stupid questions forced him into saying this so he could get them away..Hes not Quitting

Michael did a terrific job as always. He is right up there with George when it comes to commentating as he always gets the facts straight and gives eaters their just due. I can see why the anonymous at the top of the page does not use his real name (because he is totally clueless, that’s why). Believe me when I say they were not made with your mother’s Wonder white bread. I wish I could have sent you one of the sandwiches used in the competition as it would not have arrived in any worse condition than the ones used in the contest. Anyone should know by the low numbers from top to bottom that this was an extremely difficult and unpleasant event. All you have to do is ask any of the eaters who participated or look at their pained expressions throughout the contest.

By the way, Toro will be back. It is very understandable that he was frustrated (as were many other eaters) after the contest. He adds fun to any event he is in and he is always a crowd favorite.

Dear Rhonda, Do you really think the ifoce really cares about any one other than the top 5….The truth be known , they only permot the top 5.why do you think they fly the top 5 to the regenals rather than to let them compete in there home town? The ifoce dont give a hoot to anyone else…….

No ,Its not Brian, and who cares about spelling when your angry..The ifoce was a good organization who cared for its people once.NOW ITS ONLY ABOUT THE TOP 5…..When the have the kyrstals ,why not devide it into the north the south the east and the west so people would not have to spend so much money traveling …Theydont care, but the will fly the top 5 allover the country and the familys also..Does that sound like a fare federation..From 30 to 50 what are you guys doing? youll never have a chance or make any money in the federation and the will ban you if you enter anyothe contest..Stick together your stronger in numbers then they are….
