PETA to protest Sunrise Nathan’s qualifier
PETA has put out a press release announcing that a protest will be held during the Nathan’s qualifier in Sunrise, Florida. The anti-animal cruelty group is also calling on Nathan’s to produce a meatless hot dog. Time will tell if PETA’s protest is more successful that Clarence Mertz’s efforts to stop the Sheboygan Bratfest contest.

Good then I’ll wear my fur coat. The whole reason I started competitive eating was to combat PETA. For every animal they don’t eat I try to eat three.

I think they’re also lobbying the industry to change the name of the “hot dog” to “hot shaft of spices, preservatives, and other unmentionable ingredients”. Let’s see them try to protest at the Hartford qualifier. Eater X will swoop in with foot longs in each hand and pummel those PETA folk into submission with spicy, processed meat!

I think Yves should just have a veggie dog eating competition. I’d be into it.

It’s good to know that there are IFOCE fans at PETA. Jeering, cheering, what’s the difference? It’s all hype. I think vegetarian Humble Bob needs to go talk to the protesting hippies.
