Posole contest expected entrants

Matt “Foracious” Forss, who will compete in the posole contest on November 18, has forwarded me some of the expected entrants in that event:

Pat Bertoletti
Joey Chestnut
Tim Janus
Matt “Foracious” Forss

Rich LeFevre will probably participate as well since he has done almost all southwestern contests.

Not that it matters with this pending line-up, but I will be there as well.

I think there’s a very good chance that Pat, Tim, or Rich can (not necessarily will, but can) beat him this weekend. Posole is more suited to Pat’s style than Joey’s. How long is this contest?

Good luck to you Wild Bill!

It is 12 minutes. I know joey is going, I don’t believe rich or tim will be going. I could be wrong though.

Pat, you can do it. Best of luck! This food (soup) is right up your alley.

(And I realize it is two weekends away, not next weekend.)

Thanks, Rhonda. I actually made a batch of posole this past weekend, just to get familiar with it.

Good luck to all the competitors especially Matt Forss. Stay Hungry and Focused, Be Ferocious, and hold your own as you compete with the big dawgs playa

Right now it looks like it’s a go for me. With only two contests left on the schedule this year, I have decided to bite the bullet and go down there with the hope that the posole will be a lot better this time than it was in 2004. It was a tough choice for me to make because I would rather watch Carlene eat that stuff than participate myself. However, I’m told they have a new cook and hopefully it will be better prepared this time around.

Locust, you have a great chance in Posole. You can get a lot of this stuff down in 12 minutes. Best of luck to you!

Thank you Badlands. I can’t wait for your next album! I really like instrumental version of “The Science of Competitive Eating”. Will it be on this new cd?

    “You can count me out”

I had trouble scheduling the trip, and yesterday I had some posole.

Posole had pigs feet, and it is a little nasty.I love to eat, but prefer to compete with food that I enjoy eating (unless there is a incentive ; ) ).

I think Rich is going to walk away from Acoma with the title.
    For a bunch of reasons:
-He has eating posole in competition.
-He is a master at long the long contest.
-He will be competing to take the title back to the Pink Palace.
-He has proven to me that he can eat foods that have complex taste (chili, vienna sausage, peppers, spam)

Tim and Pat are good, but they’re no Rich LaFevere

I will see you guys in AC

I’m not going, so I’m definitely not winning it.

Rich and Pat should both do well. Best of luck to both!

Given 12 minutes, I’m also leaning towards Rich. Rich desrves to be ranked higher anyway.

The IFOCE rankings world “should” not revolve around hot dogs and hamburgers, especially when they’re both sandwich-type foods. Further evidence that money rules the world.

Thanks for the kind words, Rhonda and Joey. However, Pat is a true superstar and should walk away with the title. I will be there to give him as much pressure as I can, but if the stuff is as thick and dry as it was last time it is going to be very difficult for me to get a whole lot down (even in 12 minutes). I just hope it is better this time and that we can all put on a great show down there.

Rich, don’t cut yourself short. Call up the Sky City manager and tell him if he wants to see some butt-kicking numbers, to have the chef reduce the visosity of that mortar substitute. (Tell him the eaters are not laying bricks, but might easily “lay an egg” if that stuff isn’t thinned out!)

By the way Rich, Pat AND you are true superstars. I use that term for few people, but put you, Joey, Sonya and Pat in that category. And if I were doing the rankings, you’d be in the top four (in the US) where you belong. Look at your records/victories. You have that killer instinct too!
