Punching Kitty: Ben Monson set Crown Candy Kitchen record

Punching Kitty has an update on the malt record recently set at the Crown Candy Kitchen by someone claiming to be Kevin Ross. The owner of the Crown Candy Kitchen, Andy Karandzieff, posted a picture of the record setter, and it is definitely not the Kevin Ross who qualified for the 2008 Nathan’s finals.

The “Kevin Ross” claimed to have completed the Pointersaurus, but no information is available on Pointer’s Pizza facebook.

update Barry Stagg reports that the #7 ranked eater (Ben Monson) ate the King Kong Burger challenge in 8 minutes at Ray’s Franks in Houston.

update #2 KSDK and the Riverfront Times have articles.

Wow this guy is a real winner. We are so lucky to be graced with his selfcentered douchey presence.

This guy is another Furious Pete but worse – at least Pete’s not a liar. And he’s definitely above using another eater’s name. This clown is really setting a super example. I would love to see him kicked out of the organization. Honest eaters don’t need this punk around. Way to give Crown Candy Kitchen free publicity and your “friend” some heartache, you jerk.

Those were not your everyday challenges.

    Great job .Especially the B3.DAMM!!!!!!!!

So they enforce a rule keeping a <20 hdb person from the finals. yet they do not enforce a rule about eating challenges. IFOCE should ban this person from your organiztion. Show Big Sexy that a rule is a rule. or Big Sexy you are too big for the cameras so you are out. Kevin Ross Jr. is in shape so he can do whatever he wants to.

I like Ben. His talent is enormous. … but this is another example of selective, inconsistent enforcement/nonenforcement of the rules. This guy’s a top 10 eater too!

Let some eaters get caught doing this and his or her ass is gone!

This really c-o-r-n-fuses the heck out of me!

What I’m clear about, however, is that the IFOCE sends the wrong message to their eaters, especially the decent, nontop-10 eaters who really do give a shit and try to abide by the “rules,” whatever they really are.

    Another crock!

“Crown Candy Record Breaker Lied About His Identity!”

and of course we don’t know who’s name he used the day before. This is really pretty sad especially in light of the Big Sexy deal. They should strip this nimrod of his win and just give it to Beard. That would be the right thing to do, but it’ll never happen. I do hope someone does bring this up to the organization, though – this is just plain wrong.

Like the IFOCE is going to do anything. He has beat top eaters, and it would look like they are just trying to get rid of him because of that.

Not like they would take away his win at Las Vegas, that would make two qualifiers where no one qualifies.

This makes me sick, other guys follow the rules and get nothing for it. He breaks them whenever he damn well feels like it and get treated like a prince. Maybe he should be excluded from Nathans and Brian should get his spot. Oh wait Brian follows all the rules except for that one bull crap rule about 20 HDB, so I guess Brian should defiantly be punished and Munson should absolutly get all the accolades of a rule breaker.

I do challenges. As does everyone. The Shay $isters did one thing right, they went to a ivy league school and put Nathans on national tv so they get to drive BMWs and make up the rules. If they didnt follow the 20 dog rule and let Brian in we all be compainning about that I bet

    A. Nonymous – I was not sticking up for him. I was just pointing out how they will do nothing about it. He is a way for the IFOCE to make some money, so they will keep him around.

I think the 20 dog rule is a bad one. Even if you eat 20, you have no shot. So what’s the point? Oh yeah, getting higher ranked eaters in without having to actually win a qualifier.

Why would anybody want to enter a contest if you feel that you have no chance of not getting in the winner circle( 1st 2nd 3rd) just to tip your hat and wave to the crowd, stay home rent a open convertible car and drive down Wall Street and wave to the crowd , save yourself the calories.

Ben needs a nick name – and it should be announced at the Gyro’s contest tomorrow night.

    How ’bout
BEN “I think rules are made to be broken” MONSON
    BEN “The LIAR” MONSON
    BEN “The CHEATER” MONSON

Well, if your “sugar daddy’s” don’t mind, I guess you DON’T have to have any class or integrity in their league. It’s not so much that you were doing the side contests – it’s that you lied about your identity, Kevin Ross??? Own your f*** ups dude and at least apologize.

Pat was drummed out for eating “unauthorized” Nathans hot dogs at a “non-sanctioned” event. He can’t speak for himself anymore, but it’s a f*cking crying shame that this clown can do whatever he wants with no problem. Any rated eater should do whatever the hell they want to. If you get any sh*t, just tell them to f*ck themselves because the golden pig/man/a*shole does it. Cancel your contract – who cares? I’ll make more money anyway. Go ahead – sue me. Ask A-Bomb how much it’s cost him.

when everybody around you at the table smiles at you when you know that they all know that you’re a lying cheater. “Oh! don’t worry – they’re just jealous.” How about they’re at least able to look each other in the eye when the contest is over because they haven’t lied and cheated each other? I wouldn’t count too much on that, Mr. Popularity. Good times. I miss Dr. Bigtime – at least he was honest.

Tell me you wannabees were Ben cheated? Did Rich La Fevre eat the steak at Monte Carlo. Does Legs and Eater X do other contests? Its non of your fkn business. Are you upset that he beat you ? Are you upset you cant compete against him? or are you upset you cant eat 20 dogs? What is it? Or do you think by critisizing him you might screw with his mind..Well he got friend you idiot and we wont let him fall victom to you idiots..

Pat V pal the IFOCE has not made anyone sign a contract since 2006. I could be wrong but that is the general consensus amongst the eaters . Ben can basically do whatever he pleases because he is being touted by the sheas as their version of furious pete. Of course Ben’s entrance in the IFOCE had to meet the approval of the IFOCE’s media glamour boys crazy legs and janus before Ben signed anything. I guess Ben was not looked at as a serious threat to Conti and Janus media stature the way furious pete was.

  25. Where is the enforcer ? said

    May 15, 2010 @ 7:49 am

There is no commish around anymore to keep everyone in line so therefore IFOCE members taking part in eating challenges have spiraled out of control. Maybe all this time they needed to hire a real down to earth commisioner like Ed Jarvis who would have glady taken the position without asking for monetary compensation or placing emphasis on the phrase show me the money

Cheating on the contract (& yes – there is still a contract) is one thing, but lying and giving another eater’s name (Kevin Ross) is just plain pathetic.

I am not an eater – I am a follower and fan and so I don’t have a jealous bone in my body.

How do any of you even know what his relationship with Kevin Ross is? How do know that this wasn’t some rye plan between the two of them. Did they not just go do the 54″ pizza together? think about it idiots.

Using the name of another ranked eater when that eater could be ‘punished’ by MLE for doing it is bad. Other that that, MLE is what it is and not anything else. There are rules you should follow, but how hard they enfoce them varies from one eater to another. If Ben is good enough to have an special treatment regarding restaurant challenges then so be it, not that he should.

Okay, time to remove the foot from my mouth after I heared the “rest of the story”. I want to say I am sorry. I really apologize to Ben for the negative posts. Word from him is that there was no compensation at all for the challenges he took. None. He went in, ordered and paid for his challenge food and then proceeded to break records left & right. No broken rules, just broken records. I think I will just shut up and lurk for awhile.
