Registration will open today for a Nathan's Famous qualifier to be held in Selsey, West Sussex, England on August 26. I think this will be the first Nathan's qualifier held outside the USA since a Beijing qualifier in 2011. Registration is now open for the Slopper championship at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo on September 2, the Buffalo Buffet Bowl on September 2, the USA Chicken Wing Eating Championship in Buffalo on September 3 and the Lewisville, TX tamale contest on September 30.

What time is registration ? There is no link yet .

Lol @9:54, MLE is not the best with updating their links or sticking to their promised times for opening up the registration page.

I would love to see Leah S. give this a go for the women. Just wonder if she be willing to sign on with MLE. I reckon she can do 30+ in 10 minutes.

For the men’s table, will it be Adam, Max, and Kyle all going? Any other’s I’m forgetting? Don’t think the UK eater talent pool is very deep, so I doubt anyone gets close to hitting 40 HDBs at this event.

It’s 10 am Pacific Time , I still have no Registration Link on the mle contest page . Is this only for European Eaters ? Anyone know?

Miki will be in trouble if they open qualifiers in strong countries. If a couple Japanese eaters made it they would make her cry. Poor soul.

For continental Europeans, I could see Radim Dvoracek, Jesse from Finland and perhaps some of the Spaniards compete. We can probably rule out Alan FoodChallenge after this week’s fiasco.

What about Dawsy ? I hope he competes .
Also , how many competitors usually compete in a qualifier ?

Good point OJ, I forgot how close continental Europe is to England. Would be interesting to seem some Europeans eat hot dogs for the first time, especially some of the Spanish talent that is out there. Is Jesse still competing?

Not sure if Radim will go (although I’m sure he’ll see this post, so let us know Radim!) as it’s not super close to the Czech Republic. And yes, i would be willing to bet Alan won’t try to even register, and if he does, there’s little chance he would get a chance to qualify unless MLE is oblivious to his fake videos…

^^There you go. Thanks Radim. You are a stand-up guy. Half the people on here wouldn’t reveal if they were going to attend the qualifier–everybody’s very “hush, hush” when it comes to which qualifier on the circuit they are going to do. Good luck– I’m sure you’ll get 25 or more!!!

Rod Radim , I tried to sign up for the 1 hour Checkia dumpling eating competition but no one speaks english and they don’t answer my emails . Are you the only one in Checkia that understands English ?

So if I registered , how many days does it take to find out if you made the hot dog contest?

@3:52– I received your registration, you didn’t make it, but you’ve been added to the waitlist. Email is forthcoming.

@11:36 thanks for believing in me, 25 will be satisfying for me but I don’t think it would be enough to win especially if Adam or Max compete..
@12:42 sorry man, the organizers are idiots for not replying to you.. Anyway, those dumplings are shitty, not even worth traveling overseas to try them lol

It is worth to travel because you’re competition draws a big crowd and it is 1 hour ! And Europeans are so much fun !!

Rumor has it an American comp. eater may be trying to go to England to compete at this qualifier.
If MLE lets this occur, how would everyone on here feel about this of an American were to win a qualifier that was clearly set-up so that a British/European eater could get a bid to Coney 2024?

Is it kind of like stealing candy from a baby? Or is it “fair play” since there’s no rule stating that Americans can’t try to qualify at a foreign events?? I think it would be hysterical if this rumored American went there, but then lost the contest. I hope we see an American there just for the antics/backlash it may cause haha.

When is China going to send an eater. They own Nathan’s

There was a Beijing Nathan’s qualifier in 2011, which was before both the Chinese takeover of Smithfield Foods and Nathan’s deal with Smithfield to manufacture their hot dogs.

Nathan’s hot dogs are manufactured by Americans with American meat at Smithfield. Smithfield is OWNED by a Chinese conglomerate. Nathan’s restaurant chain is American owned.
Get your fucking facts straight, and STFU!

    Nathan’s sold out America

Guess what? Nobody in MLE / any comp. eaters give a damn about who makes the hotdogs. We will eat them no matter what. We don’t do this for some sort of “nationalistic pride”. You could have Bar-S hot dogs from Walmart as the food on July 4th, and everyone would still do this contest. Eaters eat, period. Most of us are too competitive or too messed up in the head to give one iota about where the food was manufactured or who owns the brand/parent company. I bet if MLE had an 8-minute literal “Dog SH*T eating contest”, they’d still have ranked eaters apply for the event and participate because some people just want an MLE victory that bad. I’m not that obsesses personally, but there’s def some people out there that are way too into the MLE scene.

Maybe this commenter wants to tell America that the Nathan’s are owned now by a Chinese owned. What ever you said is probably true about the contestants that would anything for attention. I don’t eat Nathan’s now that I know they sold to a Chinese ownership. That’s a personal thing. Lotsa Americans like myself want to know.
