McDonald has NOT signed with MLE. Apparently he’s allowed to do whatever he wishes.

The vomiteers (every competitive eater thats any good) oops,,, I mean competitive eaters had to hold it down a bit longer because of the apparent lack of knowledge by MLE as to the amount of product neccesary for a food eating contest. Heres a bit of advice to the IFOCE looks better to error on the high side. This is a just a guess cuz i didn’t go… but Seiken prob did about 5 and was out in the first round.
At least Crif Dogs didn’t run out hot dogs! lolssss

Sorry to burst your bubble 412 but i ate 12.5 and Jeremy ate 14 before George blew the unexpected whistle. Biggest bullshit contest i ever saw. They stopped it after 4 minutes then continued after a break for another 5. If you didnt eat 15 after 4 minutes you were out but we were notified about that rule only after the 4 minutes were up. . Jeremy and myself were on a roll and i dont think that was fair for the other eaters that competed regardless of their totals at the break. . What kind of nonsense is that?. 5 get in and the rest sit on the sidelines and watch? I felt as though i was in the middle of having sexual intercourse and someone told me sorry you gotta pull out cause its time to go

That sucks, how do you run out of food at a rib festival?

How do you run out of food? Some of the events leading up to the contest is a good indication that something like that might happen. There was a total of 4 people in attendance sitting near the stage in beach chairs listening to a guitar player they practically found off the street That alone will tell you That alone will indicate why ESPN might have backed off in its original attempt to televise this blockbuster bonanza on nationwide television

Not only do you wonder how they run out of food but from what I saw on Beautiful Brian’s video, it looks like they ran out of people. Was this a festival or a contest held on the side of a dirt road.

Bottom line George Shea got his 10 grand from the sponsor so he was forced to make the best of it while some of the eaters got screwed in return.

This running out of food is but one of a myriad of issues that makes those who run these contests look ridiculous, along with inconsistent judging, inconsistent enforcement of rules (assuming it is known what the rules are), lack of communicating rules to eaters, etc. I could go on, but I won’t out of boredom.

There is no excuse for this, especially after running these events for nearly 2 decades. If the organization running CE doesn’t take it seriously, no one else will. That’s very, very unfortunate for all eaters, most especially for the ones who aren’t recognized as elite eaters, who, just the same, spend their hard-earned money to participate in these events, only for their efforts to be condemned, due to a lack of professionalism, communication, and planning by the very organization they try to support.

What a joke! Absolutely disgusting! If I were as consistently unprofessional at my job I wouldn’t last a month!

Rhonda in defense of George he is probably more than embarrassed about this and i wouldnt be surprised if he threw a major tantrum at the office with chairs and desks being thrown about the room . In all the years i have known him and the organization the last thing he wants is to be made to look like a fool. However i totally agree with you when you mentioned the part about spending our hard earned money to fly or drive out there. The economy is bad . We are not rolling in dough . Its enough we spent our hard earned money to compete but to add insult to injury and cut the contest time in half for the rest of the field? Not right at all. I realize that something like this might occur as often as an earthquake but once is enough to leave a bitter and lasting impression.

Hi BB. I totally understand, and I’m sure George feels awful. But when George and Rich look in the mirror each morning the image they see is the one ultimately responsible for ensuring things go smoothly. Actions need to be taken, and followed up on, long prior to each event to head-off any potential threat from Murphy’s Law! It’s too late the hour of the contest.

I can recall close to a half dozen times over the last 5 or so years when something similar has happened. How often is the supply of baseballs, footballs, basketballs, and hockey pucks exhausted in their respective sports? Never? It needs to be the same thing in CE contests. Otherwise, MLE organizers and sponsors look foolish.

Agree with Rhonda. Apologies mean nothing and actions speak louder than words. Some sort of mild compensation for the competitors maybe a free room at the next contest of their choice or at worst a buy one get one free Nathans coupon

Is it that they actually ran out of food, or just didn’t have enough sliders prepared for a full 10 min contest. Either way, George should have known how many plate to be have prepared just by who was on the roster. I actually feel for BB. I doubt he would have placed in the money but he had the right to be able to eat for 10 min. NY to that contest site in the woods is no drive around the block. This should be one of those rare occasions where everyone gets a little gas money.

BB you make yourself a di……..by responding the way you did. You and Rhonda can make a tag team on this one but you come off like a real jerk and cancel out the positive when you just have to respond to anything which is negative about you. Let something go once in a while, your reputation would be better served if you did.

when it comes to accusing someone of a comment they did not make the person being accused has every right to defend themselves. especially when you are dealing with eatfeats. It is rare that Seiken responds back to negative comments unless he is being accused of posting a comment that doesnt orginate from his PC
