He’s not kidding. It was my 10 year old son who thought I should drag an enourmous beer can behind me. How much more proud can a Dad be?

Charlie it’s nice hearing from you. Steak, your son, though only 10, demonstrates more maturity on the blog portion of this site than many adults that post.

Give Charlie time. We can corrupt him too.

Let’s hear it for Steakbellie (and Charlie) !
We’ve never actually met them, but Juliet, the girls and I like them. They provided a great topic of conversation during dinner tonight. Please allow me to explain.
Steakbellie didn’t take first place in the Wingbowl – he didn’t even come close, but tried from his heart. He gave it his best shot, and his son is proud of him. That, by itself, makes him a winner. Charlie shared in his father’s triumph. That makes them both big winners.
Their family successes are our family’s successes. We have girls roughly the same age, and they (and I) are very proud of their mom regardless of her ranking, her record, her titles or the lack thereof. The fact that we can be a part of Juliet’s CE journey as a family is really they big payday. Juliet wants to win, certainly, but truly isn’t living or dying on the results of the next competition. She’s got a business to run, homework to check, and all the other parts of life that fill the time outside her occasional 10 minutes of public spectacle. More importantly, it’s given us a great opportunity to discuss as family the things that we think really matter, and they’re not necessarily winning or losing.
Our oldest daughter commented that, to her, the best parts of professional competitive eating are traveling to the places we’ve never been and the new friends we meet along the way. We’ve met many so far. I’m happy that we, as a family, can share the pride of Mom’s efforts. I’m proud of Charlie and the super job he and his father did last week. Hopefully we’ll have the opportunity to meet them both in the near future.
P.S.
Onto another thread, I believe Juliet Lee is actually the world’s dog food eating champion, despite claims to the contrary. She just informed me that she won the non-IFOCE sanctioned 1970’s “Communist Chinese Cultural Revolution” competition.
Winning amount: More than you really want to know.
Winning time: Waaay fast – before they kick down the door.
Grand prize: Escape with your life.
See ya’ in Long Beach.

Joey Lee is one cool guy. His comment should have a star next to it. Awesome! Juliet Lee will succeed because not only does she have a life outside of competitive eating but a successful one as well
