    I agree with Steve Dahl.

I wish only the best for Pat, and I hope that discomfort leaves in a hurry so he can resume his winning ways.

I am extremely happy with picnic style rules in Krystal this year. Typically I dont like rule changes because they make it difficult to track progress year over year, but this really reined in the sloppy folks. I am probably in the minority, but I would LOVE Nathans to go picnic style as well. It would certainly make the Duece a much harder achievement.

Steak I could not agree more! It would certainly make the totals more meaningful. Right now they’re bogus. While people may get credit for “eating,” say, 50+ drowned HDBs. All you can really say is that they “went through” that many.

Not to pick on Tim, but I find it a bit amusing that he ate 53 waterlogged HDBs, yet accrued only 55 Krystal points. And Tim is absolutely NOT a sloppy eater. It just goes to show how ridiculous and unrealistic the fairytale-ish Nathan’s numbers are.

Dunking is sort of like having male golfers start from the ladies’ tees, yet getting credit as if they started from the mens’ tees.

Apparently Mr.Dahl has not heard of the Association of Independent Competitive Eaters. You know, home of the picnic style rules. Where we do not mush, mash, dunk, or desecrate our food before we eat it.
If you see this Mr.Dahl please go to competitiveeaters.com and check it out.
    You will not be repulsed.

Even though I wasn’t there, seems as if the picnic style rules for KSO has benefited jim reeves and erik denmark, and has weeded out such sloppy eaters like Juliett.

As for changing the rules for nathan’s…..the time for the contest changed only 2 years ago. I would not be a fan of changing the rules year to year as this would effect numbers and training techniques. Maybe for Nathan’s 2011 should go picnic style.

To dunk or not to dunk is up to the sponsors.

    Dunking kind of seems unfair.

Too much debris. The Lee girl has been getting away with this too long. Now we will see Her totals go south.

One would think dunking would be more fair to the old eaters. They could leave their false teeth at home and just drink their lunch.
