I like Pete and this is the last thing he would need. That said he has got rich by making videos. I wake up call that if you want to make some serious money you have to comply with the law.
He is loaded so can afford it, wish him the best.

they targeted him only because he is a famous youtuber and they know he earned alot of money . No i think you are wrong he is not a millionaire by any stretch and a fine of that amt will set him back He even admitted it He also said he doesnt have much incentive to produce new material after what happened.

Combination of not being a very savvy business guy and getting blindsided at the same time One of the videos was created in 2008 and he says was demonetized because of copyright material after earning 3 cents . He lost me though when he said it earned 3 cents in 11yrs but then on the other hand he said it was demonetized right away. Right away and 11yrs are two different animals . Anyhow 10k fine right there . The rest of the fines he got screwed and screwed royally and he should fight that in court . Youtube agreed to allow him to include music from his world tour after he payed to get permission and for the rights to that material . What the fuck is this? He gets sued for world wide rights and television rights even after he bought the rights to the music. And then the icing on the cake . Hes offered better quality video with soundtrack He takes down the old video with 3 songs then puts up a better quality version with the same three songs and gets fined 10k x 6 = 60k? So what youtube is saying is that if you forgot to keep tabs on videos which were lingering on your channel before they changed their monetiization guidelines you leave yourself wide open to get eaten alive. The only bright note that comes from this is that with the new guidelines in force youtube at least gives you a heads up to remove copyright content as soon as you upload it . Worst case scenario is they might issue a copyright strike or worse worse case which is rare is deleting your channel but thats usually after 3 strikes. So those of you that bitch and complain about a strike on your channel be very very grateful your not in his shoes

Even Joey Chestnut would have a rough time paying that tab. These greedy cocksuckers who represent Sony and other major recording labels have nothing better to do than go after someone who is not only battling cancer but worked his ass off to reach you tube superiority
