Why would anyone want to interview this guy as one of Britain’s faces of competitive eating? Is the talent pool really that low that this is the guy they chose to write about? (I guess Adam, Kyle, Max, and Leah were all too busy or declined the interview, so Dawes got the phone call instead. Is Kate Ovens still around?).

Yeah, 14 won’t even get close to the wild card. Save your money.

@ 138–they may be true, but I recall him encouraging is daughter into getting into competitive eating. Probably not “dad of the year” worthy, but that’s besides the point.
Just because someone is nice or a good person doesn’t mean their pipe dreams of becoming a high-level pro eater should be encouraged or entertained. For him to try to qualify for Nathans would be a hige waste of his time, effort, and money. But he’s a grown man, and can do whatever he damn well pleases…

Thanks for defending me
Yes I did not put on a good show at Nathan’s
And if the press want to make a story about me I will give
But if you got nothing else to do but bad mouth me about my kids
Find me
