Tom Gilbert wins Las Vegas spaghetti contest

Naader Reda has the top 5 (Part 1 | Part 2) in today’s spaghetti eating contest awarding $1000 in Las Vegas:

1) Tom Gilbert 11 lbs 6 oz, 7 minutes
2) Stephanie Torres 10 lbs 5 oz
3) Rich LeFevre 8 lbs 1 oz
4) Juan Rodriguez 7 lbs 12 oz
5) Naader Reda 6 lbs 1 oz, competed in pie contest earlier in the day

    The contest ran in 3 separate (random) heats, to accomodate some 40-50 participants. Tom and Rich ate in the first heat, Steph and Juan were in the second, and I went in the third. It was absoutely ridiculous to see Tom maul plate after plate of pasta.

    If this Tom Gilbert guy could eat in the top five he would join MLE. He knows he can’t so he doesn’t join. Only 29 non-Nathan’s Hotdogs, barely beating Stephanie at this contest, and she wasn’t even top 10. Give me a break. The only ones who don’t know that Gilbert’s not that good are his idiot, all trash talk, speculating friends.

    I agree with Joe in his take on Goose, though I can’t imagine him finishing ahead of Joey or Pat in any food. They’re just too good.

    When has denmark,brown,stonie or morgan ever eaten 11 pounds of anything let only in 7 minutes. Tom is in the 37 to 45 range with Nathans. You wanna put some money on it? Doubt it cuz you’d be handing the cash over real quick.

    Gentleman Joe does not trash talk, comments rarely, when he does, people should take notice. Gilbert must have his reasons to not be MLE, just because someone is independent or with other organizations doesn’t mean that they could not beat MLE eaters, even those ranked very high.
