    Anyone that participates in the upcoming buffet flash mob will be disgraced by some eaters for making the sport look even worse. This is negative and will reflect on all competitive eaters

    What are some rational arguments explaining why people shouldn’t go to this buffet event?

    It isn’t like competitive eating is in the mainstream or that there was a dozen better projects to pick from.

    Frankly, I believe the opponents fall into a few camps-
    1. Those who can’t make time to be there
    2. Those who look for an immediate benefit and can’t find one
    3. Those who wanted to line up this type of project and didn’t
    4. Those unwilling to share the spotlight with others

    Competitive eating is a circus freak show. This is going to be a big gathering of eaters from all over the country. No matter whether it lives up to hype or not, that’s a considerable accomplishment.

    Ironically most of the guest list involves shit starters or those that would put their mother in the mud to get a couple views. I have heard both sides. Bottom feeders here have no shame. Make sure you pick your noses at the tables kiddos.

    Some eaters enjoy competition, some enjoy bettering themselves at something, some use their ability to make some money or raise money…….and some…..like the ones going to this event……are the kids that never succeeded at sports, weren’t popular in school, and need to be the loudest person in the room to prove that they’re part of something.

    @1119 look worse as to what? Most people pay no mind to competitive eating as is. And the ones that do glorify it. As far as the look of all competitive eaters you have a bunch of people doing multiple challenges a day etc. That makes CE look worse over the scheme of things vs 1 collaboration video.

    And yes @630 definitely selfish but are you gonna make ce great or just complain about what others do . CE could be amazing, but I don’t see that happening so let people be selfish. Let them do what they wanna do. The only qualm I have about this is the patrons going to eat there that day that don’t get their proper meals.

    I am one of the bottom feeders that went. I went to meet people i never got to compete or meet in person before. I didn’t do all that great while there. But it was a fun experience. We were told what the object of the video was when we got there. Also what was or wasnt expected. We were given basically free reign to eat as much as we want and do pretty much whatever. I was critical on how we approached it, however when they said we can do whatever we wanted and as little or as much as you wanted. Well then yea content is king. But it was not as bad as you think it was. But im not gonna sugar coat it, its not like the concerns you guys had were not warranted. Staff itself at the location was phenomenal and they loved every minute of it. End of the day it was great for all parties and no customers were inconvenienced. So I say it was a great success overall. Have to see the video in how it turned out however.

    first off, unless you are one of the top few, profitable MLE eaters, there was ABSOLUTELY no reason to not do this.

    If someone flew you to LA, paid for you flight, hotel, ground transportation, and a lunch on video, simply because you can eat a LOT of food, i would suggest taking the “opportunity” to get a great “life experience” that not many people will EVER have.

    competitive eating is a circus side show, a freak show, an amazing yet disgusting to watch, at the same time.

    Life is about creating memories, having stories to tell, living the life you want to live, travelling and meeting people who you have common interests with ..

    To everyone that did this, I hope you had a great time meeting your peers, friends, people who you have common interests with.

    To people who frowned upon this “buffet flash mob”, share you objections why, publicly and without anonymity if you want to be taken seriously I will reply …

    Can you tell us all exactly what they told you was the “object of the video”? E.g. “we want you guys to eat as much as you are comfortable eating and as fast as you can, and stack all your empty plates up on the tables”…?

    It’s good to hear that it seemed to go smoothly.

    @4:09 so I was told the entire point of the video is to promote buffets and bring light about food waste during them. Bringing light to an issue regarding buffets in general and the food waste that happens all the time when people eat at them. I over heard Airrack say to his crew he was expecting to be kicked out within 15 minutes. Which did not happen. Staff was great and they loved watching it all go down. Im curious to see if that is how the video will turn out, but we were told to eat as much as you want and we had full control of what we did. It was not approached with the mentality of truly destroying a buffet in terms of eating everything in my view. As there was no real strategy and planning on it. Since we were left to our own whims it was not as efficient as it should of been if the goal was to eat so they are out of everything. Again have to see exactly how the video turns out but this was my understanding for the whole thing as it was explained to me. Overall was great to meet people i only knew online for years, share stories of on the road doing contests/challenges and a hell of an experience. I had the same concerns going in about the whole buffet thing as some of you, but like Max said, I could not pass up an opportunity that I personally would never get. Looking back at everything, I was very grateful for the experience. Its memories I will definitely never forget.

    Many of the people who went are unemployed losers of competitive eating. I’m sure many others could of attended but they have this little thing called work to attend so the people who did attend could have. But hey, those guys are probably gonna be rich and famous now!

    So he did say that he was expecting to get kicked out within 15 minutes. And obviously the skill of eaters that were brought to the table were not able to accomplish anything near this. Because the staff just loved everyone of you. The eaters who showed up Are the ones that will never be more than those who follow others around trying to make money and a name off of others. Of course, it went smoothly. None of you are capable of eating enough or making enough of an impact to disturb anybody. As I heard from all of the good eaters in the group chat They made points that were very valid and this is why nobody was kicked out. I’m not a good eater. But I’m still glad I didn’t show up with the rest of you.

    This all makes sense. To have Airrack/Eric say “he was expecting to get kicked out”, yet also tell people to eat however you want / as little or as much as you want doesn’t quite make sense. For his content, I would think he would want chaos / empty food bins under the heating lamps/ confused or shocked customers, and potentially getting kicked out. He could have just hired 3x as many local “buffet eaters” to accomplish his video, instead of paying thousands to cover pros flights and hotels and eat the same amount of food.

    For the record, yes there was big plates and oversized things at the table. The buffet itself i did not notice if it was recorded much or not. And yes, this is what i referred to before as strategy going in. If you truly wanted to “destroy” a buffet you have to plan it like you would for any competition you are doing. That being what takes the longest to refill, what items would they have the least of. etc. Taking a full pie off the buffet is great for content, but those are premade and sitting in a cooler. So they are gonna get restocked on a buffet within a few seconds. Vs actual cooking time and other factors to slow down something from being restocked. That is what i refer to as more strategic and planning. This again did not happen and we were all left to our own whims on how much we wanted to eat and eat whatever you want. Also speed would be a factor in some of this. Which most treated it as capacity and not speed. Its a lot of little variables. Again great experience and I genuinely enjoyed the experience in meeting fellow eaters. Stories and memories are for sure something I wont forget.
