Unified poll ballot & rules
The ballot for the unified poll has been set up and voting will start tomorrow (Sunday). (Last minute additions can be made to the list of choices if requested). Rules will be different than in previous ranking polls:
- Only registered & logged in users can vote.
- All ballots will be public and posted when voting closes on Wednesday.
- No results will be listed until voting closes.
- The poll will be run with the previous rules (registration & public ballots not required) after the results are posted.
update Feb 13 The poll opening has been pushed back to Monday to make sure that everyone has a chance to submit suggestions. All of the current IFOCE top 50 has been added to the list of choices.

At the end of the day, people aren’t going to vote for this thing honestly. The results will be a weird amalgam of eater talent and popularity, and voter jealousy and general ignorance. If your goal is to provide us with a pointless exercise, OJ, that a few people misconstrue as something valid, then — congratulations — you’ve done it. But really all you’ve done us is a disservice.

I appreciate the effort OJ, but I’m really confused by all the rules. So you can vote once per day as a registered user and unlimited times as unregistered once you log out?? Then anyone can vote after Wednesday???
I don’t think people should be allowed to vote for themselves at all; otherwise there is a conflict of interest.

I always like Hall Hunt’s poll, even if I (and I often) didn’t agree. This poll will be more like a fishing pole, catching fish that needs to be thrown back!

What do these polls actually accomplish? Just the idea that you are in good standing with eatfeats.com? Its not a stairway to the stars or propell your competitive eating career in any way shape or form. Besides didn’t this poll have its run just a few months ago? Why repeat it? Some of you need a life pleading with OJ Rifkin to start an eaters poll. It would not surprise me one bit if some of you lose sleep worrying about how you will finish in the polls once the results are posted

I warned everyone about these fake polls but nobody wanted to listen to me. The only ones that chimned in were the Seiken haters claiming Brian you need help go seek it. Brian i used to like your website but it reeks from porno and kindergarten mentality . I was like the hell with it if thats where they want to go for the latest news on competitive eating be my guest . Im not knocking myself out anymore . What really surprises me is that you got eaters with facebook accounts pleading with family members to vote for them. Cmon man. OJ you have opened a can of worms, unfortunately, but actually Eater Supported is correct. Otherwise your poll will be even more biased. (It’s going to be biased anyway, because most people are going to be league-loyal, voting for eaters they know.
Personally, I wouldn’t blame you if you canned the voter ranking idea altogether. It’s too much work for too little appreciation. Then people will expect even more from you.
