On his events calendar, Ryan Nerz says he will emcee a Nathan’s qualifier to be held at the Hot Dog Safari in Boston on June 4. Nerz says that IFOCE does not publicize this event and it does not appear on either the IFOCE or Nathan’s website.
The first qualifier for the 2007 finals, which will take place at Saratoga Springs on September 4, 2006, is another event Nerz is scheduled to emcee. The 2005 contest to be held at that location was cancelled.

Actually, I see nothing on Nerz’s website that says it is a Nathan’s Qualifier. Just that he is emceeing a contest there and IFOCE isn’t promoting the event. I actually went to the Hot Dog Safari homepage and it does not list Nathan’s as one of the participating vendors.
All that said, it would be awesome if the IFOCE did something to allow people to qualify for Nathan’s that didn’t get a spot in a qualifier. I don’t know how many people each qualifier was limited to, but you never know when a virtual unknown, ie. Pat Bertolletti, is going to make a big impact.
