Pat Bertoletti, Eric “Badlands” Booker, Allen “Shredder” Goldstein, Maria “Edible”, Larell Marie Mele and Yasir Salem are expected to compete in this afternoon’s cannoli eating contest at the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy, NYC.
Richard Shea called the winner of last year’s cannoli contest “US Fail”.

I agree with Rhonda. While no one advises Pat Bertoletti. If someone could, I would advise him to bow out of this one with a mysterious tooth ailment. It looks like Tim Janus might be sitting this one out. I mean what are talking about here, small purse. He’s already got a ton records. What’s one more? Also, it’s always nice to show a little sporting respect to the eaters that came before you like Conte and Booker. They’re also considered the locals so let them have the spotlight. Yet, I don’t know if Conte or Booker would view it as charity or just a nice gesture. Maybe someday in a future far, far away an eater would return the favor to Pat in Chi Town.

Scoring another touchdown and not taking a knee when you’re up by 35. Putting a slugger up to bat and telling him to swing away when your already up by 15 in the ninth. Any celebration of the amount of Pat’s victory over his opponents kind of seems unsportsmanlike. He did it. Broke the record. Nice job. But, my hat go off to Booker. Nice second place showing! You played it out as always with dignity and style. You too Laurell Marie and all the other eaters!

Anony 4:41: All those eaters that had the guts to step up to the table deserved to be at that table. Because without them, there wouldn’t be a competition, and without a competiton there wouldn’t be competitive eating. Using your logic Pat didn’t deserve to be at his last wing contest in Bufallo because he lost. Untrue, so give it a rest about the other eaters. In fact, I’ll bet you more people (New Yorkers) were there to see their local heroes Badlands Booker or for that matter Crazy Legs Conte than Pat Bertolletti. And, without the fans of competitive eating that people like Booker and Conte brought to competitive eating while Pat was just competitively spitting out milk through his nose at his high schooI cafeteria, competitive eating may not be as popular as it is today. I know he has nothing but respect for people like Booker, Laurell Marie, etc. and what they continue to bring to competitive eating. No doubt Pat deserves alcolades for his record and showing. He did a great job. But don’t dis the other eaters. Congratulate them. I’m sure Pat did.

Perhaps the ifoce should institute an amateur division for the legends so contests can be more competitive. People like Booker, Legs, Juliet, Denmark, Sonya and others could compete in it, while Joey, Pat, Janus, Stonie and Bob could compete among themselves. It would really be more interesting that way.

As usual it was so much fun being at the table with these eaters & seeing Rich & Mike! Born & raised in NY, its always good to come back home! Gr8 seeing Shredder & Yasir again after over a year since we last competed 2gethr. Pat, Booker & Legs always so sweet to talk to. Missed my girl Maria so was happy to hang w/her again. Wow Marcos…nice placement. Congrats to Pat & Booker on 1st & 2nd! Book em Danno – thx!! I only wish THIS was a 10-min contest as I can never get my fill of sweets!

US Male never beat anyone of signifigance in the IFOCE. If you want to call a nailbiter over Conti in last years cannoli contest a REAL victory . then so be it. It could have gone either way. His far but few titles were questionable to say the least. Tim Janus objected to his crawfish victory because he smelled a rat. Janus is very smart and very knowledgeable young man and if he had a reason to bitch about the final results of the crawfish contest , it was a damn good reason to bitch.

As much as I like Sonya, Dave did finish ahead of her in crawfish a couple of years ago. Whether the judging was accurate or not is up for debate. The fact is he was awarded first place.

I will say that I was sorry that they did not have your name with the photo from cannolis in the Daily Mail article, unless I missed it. Not that this post should turn into something that it is not but as I can see from the database on here, Dave did beat Crazy Legs many times over the past few years as well as some other good eaters in certain contests. Those that choose to wear blinders will never give certain eaters props. Doesn’t mean he was great but like many other IFOCE eaters he did bring it to the table.
