Women
1) Carlene LeFevre 13 – first MLE contest since 2005, qualifies for Coney for 4th time (1st as winner of female division)
2) Mary Bowers 9 – takes wild card lead
3) Laura Heywood 6 wore hot dog hat
The qualifier has started. Some reports say the contest has been held at the New York New York Hotel & Casino for 17 years, which would probably make it the second longest running event on the MLE calendar after the Nathan’s finals. (Rich Shea said it has been held for 10 years in his interview.)

Rich Shea, I commented the other day that Lafevre would compete, hmm what did you say, excuse me what did you say. You had this planned all the way. A free trip the Coney for Carlene , how great. For allowing Rich to compete knowing all the other non sanction contests he competed in..Just great.. WHAT DOES THAT SAY FOR THE OTHER EATERS WHO CANT COMPETE. Its funny how some are embraced in this sport in a most peculiar way. If you are loved and admired, they overlook the fact that you are 85yrs old or if you weigh over 400 lbs . Like I’ve said many other times before, I couldn’t care less what Brian, Ron and other deranged losers think. That donut eating event at Zappos last week was NOT a contest for me nor did I receive or ask for any money in return. Zappos holds an annual donut eating contest for their employees and their executives thought they would play a joke on them by bringing in a ringer playing a consultant in one of the departments to mess with their heads. The premise was I would keep pace with the other eaters for 13 or 14 minutes; then suddenly pull away and sprint to the finish leaving everyone in a cloud of dust. A great time was had by all. Trophies were awarded to the top three finishers among the employees and I was told later that it was most fun event they have ever had (in the eight years it has been held). I have NOT done any independent contests since long before I made a charitable donation last year to get the last spot in the gyoza contest sanctioned by the IFOCE.
As for yesterday’s hot dog qualifier, I mainly wanted Carlene to come out of her retirement and win a trip to NYC. I only asked Rich Shea if I could enter when I saw that Pablo had no real competition to push him. He thanked me afterward for doing so. Carlene did not expect to do much having been out of ce for nearly nine years. It takes time to regain effectiveness at speed eating when you don’t train or practice. any reasonably intelligent person could figure that out.

Pretty good shot , but I got one better.The reason you and Carlene were’nt invited to the wedding party is I wanted to make sure there would be food left when the party started.You dont know how to have a good time without putting on a show..It would have been great just to go out as friend and talk about the good times.Im also not the one who’s best friend is anti semetic.He made pretty bad remarks a few years back, thats why and (not having anything to do with eating) I want nothing to do with you. BB tried to “negativize” my Twitter account at 3:00 AM this morning with a rant from 10 years ago. (It didn’t work, as I reported both of his comments as spam.)
He may be able to get away with turning this blog into a cyber shithouse, but I refuse to put up with such antics. I guess I’ll soon see if he wants to keep his Twitter account. It’s up to him.

Tale of the tape comparison of Rich Lefevre and Ron Koch. Height and weight are roughly the same give or take an inch or two . Koch has way more hair than Rich . Koch is sexier than Rich and women will vouch for that. Rich has an edge in eating capacity . Lefevre slight edge in age. Koch is under rated and doesnt get the publicity Lefevre does . Koch has a mild heart condition Lefevre has blood pressure issues . Koch wife is rarely seen in public so its not fair to judge of Carlene is better looking than her. Koch is more of a sport than Lefevre . He will offer to take you to a broadway show and pay for it including your dinner. Lefevre has yet to prove he is capable of any of the above

I used to be fans of Rich and Carlene and would still like to be Rich has been very mean to me over the last few years calling me a piece of filth and manure and that my website is a joke. Heres a man who used to say nice things about the site even though he accessed it through the library. What upset me more than anything was when i said hello to Carlene at the 2007 weigh in at City Hall for Nathans and all i got in return was a disgusted look from her and she walked away. Mind you all this took place at the same time while Crazy Legs mom punched me in the back (and it hurt) and Ron Koch passed out while taking pictures. Mind you i was the first one to inquire and show concern when Carlene had internal stomach surgery the previous year. I would constantly ask Rich for updates on her situation. To refer to me as an uncaring lowlife and all kinds of other shit is really hitting below the belt dude. Not to mention that you were Danielle Franco first choice for an interview when i asked her to host BB corner which i wholeheartedly approved until fat from moonachie screwed up our plans and i had to cancel the taping . What about those times you promised to have lunch at Carnegie Deli (on you ) when you came to NY. Never happened Rich. You talk alot of shit and make tons of promises but you only have reservations for your buddies in Vegas
