Booker is a talented rapper so i cannot understand why he wastes his time performing rap songs on stage and in studio revolved around competitive eating? He should strive for his own record label but instead he chooses the ce platform to climb up the ladder which is a waste of time. What is more idiotic is watching that clown George Shea try to rap with him on stage . Total joke

Conti will make it to finals because of his personality. The powers to be made it very easy for Carlene to make it , very interesting..To bad because Richard thought he would be free in NY with his new female friend..Maybe Seiken will be his guide and run interference for him. Fever and Seiken are best friends.

I tried to enter Napperville but they want me to sign a contract first with MLE. I came in second in St. Louis with 26.5 and don’t understand what is the perk of me signin’ this 3 year MLE contract. Can someone help me decide on weather to sign and enter Napperville or not sign. I only see the only perk is I get to get into events if they are booked solid already. I can’t do my own YouTube stuff and enter contests. I can’t beat the top 20 probably so how am I makin’ any money if I pay to ravel everywhere. Please help

I just don’t want to sign a contract if there isn’t really any perks other than the one I mentioned earlier. I have been breakin’ some record here where I am with challenges and I been drinkin’ water like crazy and eatin’ cabbage/salads/etc etc ridin’ my bike because contract or no contract I am just gettin’ started. I just wanted to know if I pay to go to every event its there a chance to win cash prizes without the top MLE members there so that I have a chance every now and then. Other main concern is how does the YouTube and FB social media thang work, can I even talk about it and do challenges like I have been doin’? I am all in and excited to do other challenges and contests while seein’ the countryside

Sam is the one who does all the contract stuff for the newbies. They will let you do one qualifier without signing. If you do well, they will want you to sign a contract before the next qualifier. If you don’t do well, you can keep on doing various MLE contests, but they will eventually draw the line and say you have to sign. The thing they fear the most is someone winning a qualifier and then not signing and going to the finals. That makes them look very bad. It has happened a few times in the past and they took steps not to let that happen again. They let you know that if you win a qualifier, you verbally agree to sign and go to the finals (well, unless you are a female who wins with under 10 HDB; then they don’t pay your way, so you don’t have to go).

Don’t look to eatfeats for advice. Also- no point in going to Naperville. Juan will defeat you. Quit bragging you got “second” at the STL qualifier.

DaGarbageDisposal: At 26.5 HDB, you should be able to win some qualifier. I mean, look at Saturday’s Tampa qualifier where someone won with just 18 HDB. Naperville will be tough, as Juan More Bite is expected to attend. Keep on trying. This year is the easiest year, as there re more qualifiers than ever.
As I said before, if you win a qualifier, you will have to sign.
Judging by 26.5 HDB, you can still win cash in MLE contests if most of the top eaters don’t go, which happens sometimes. Plus you should get better as time goes along, and maybe crack the top 20. Your ranking right now would be around 20, if ranked fairly. Plus Sonya, Juliet, Erik the Red, Marcos, Jim Reeves, Micah, CLC, Ronnie Hartman, Bill Myers, Lesley, Larell, Meredith, and Danielle are rumored to be retiring soon (some might already have).
You can still do YouTube stunts if you are a member of MLE. Just look at Matt Stonie’s or Camren Cincotti’s YT pages as an example:
https://www.youtube.com/user/MegatoadStonie/videos
https://www.youtube.com/user/ccincotti3/videos
And all MLEers do food challenges. However, you probably would be advised to not go publicizing them too much, as you might get flack from MLE. If you want to publicize them a lot, like Randy Santel, Darron Breeden, Nathan Figueroa, Mitch Dombrowski, Wayne Algenio, or Dan Kennedy, the best way to go is independent. You can join APE (formerly AICE) if you want, which has no restrictions. They have about 5-15 contests per year, mostly in late summer and fall:

I am a highly ranked competitive eater and my advice to you is to continue doing your challenges around the country and posting them as you like. When you sign that contract it restricts you to MLE only contests and you are not allowed to give any restaurant publicity by posting challenges on the internet (which would lead to immediate dismissal and possible legal action). Unless you are one of the top three or four eaters in the organization you will not make a lot of money because the top eaters go to all the big events.
It sounds like you want to make a name for yourself and the best way to do that is by doing what you have been doing. To get to Joey, Matt or Carmen’s level, you would have to do an insane amount of training (probably more than you can possibly imagine). There are a few YouTube eaters now who are doing very well, but if they were in MLE that would be getting pounded by any of the top eaters. Of course, you can always enter independent contests and run into the likes of Molly Schuyler, Takeru Kobayashi, Bob Shoudt, Pat Bertoletti, etc. but at least you would be able to continue with your challenges and YouTube postings. Also, you could be savvy at finding contests locally or with less exposure like Joe Menchetti has made a real good career by doing.
I hope this helps you make an intelligent decision as I have given you honest advice without anything to gain or lose.

The “perk” you get for signing is you get to compete on the biggest stage of CE. Depending on much you value you that should determine if you sign or not.

Thank you all for the positive feed backs and are most appreciated to say the least. For the negative feed backs I understand if you aren’t happy with yourself you have to try and knock people down to make yourself feel better. I am glad you are pickin’ on me because other people might not be able to take the ignorance. I apologize that you feel you have to belittle someone to make yourself feel more than what you are. For me askin’ for advice is just me knowin’ I don’t know everything and humble enough to except advice even though (go figure) there some people that just have to do their part to be useless piece of society. Negative and positves drive me and I learn from both. Have a gr8 day unless you made other plans already.

CE = competitive eater or competitive eating.
Just do independent challenges and contests for a year while you get better and see how that works out, unless you want to compete against the best, like 2:02 said. 26.5 hot dogs is pretty good.

Anonymous 9:48pm. You got me mixed up with another eater. I was never offered to sign with MLE. I was snubbed by them. There were open seats that year at the qualifier and still couldn’t get in.. A sore loser no. Not by a long shot. I never ate in a MLE event. I was always independent.. I don’t know of anyone other than Scuillo in PA that went independent & MLE at that time. There are a few others since then that switched over. You can agree or disagree with this. If any local eater is a threat to the Shea’s eater they bring in to a qualifier they will not get let in. The contract is controlling what and when you eat.. Nathan’s results will be the same this year with Carmen added to Joey and Matt. The rest are all for show.. It won’t even be close after that. CE is dying slowly.. The Shea’s still keep it somewhat interesting but it’s starting to spiral downward. Whether you liked or disliked Chapman and O’karma over on the independent side. The kept it going. Todd is neither of those two and will never be. If it wasn’t for the MLE eaters that changed over he would have nothing but Molly as a name..

Sorry 11:57 and thanks for the explanation. I know some eaters like Michael Deitz have done both APE and MLE at the same time. I think I was thinking of Dave “the Termite” Wood who did MLE and then Wing Bowl and then couldn’t get in to MLE.

Anonymous 1:47. Is the contract that bad for the MLE ? I know Dave Brunelli & Notorious B.O.B. eat at APE now. I know Joey and Matt are the two best right now over in the MLE. But, I would like to see Molly eat with them just once. The Shea’s are better
than Todd Greenwald at running a contest. There should be no contracts and just one organization.

4:03:
Joey rarely faces off against Matt head-to-head, except of the 4th of July. They either are avoiding each other or must have some kind of agreement.
I don’t know if Dave Brunelli ever ate at MLE. The people I know of who switched from MLE to APE are:
Bob, Joe Menchetti, Arnie Chapman, Dave O’Karma, Stephanie Torres, Joe LaRue, Chris “The Mad Greek” Abatsas, Jamie McDonald.
Pat Bertoletti is not officially in APE but has done some of their events in the recent years, like Battle of the Big Eaters.
Dale Boone was in MLE (IFOCE at that time), but left to form his own league, the WLOCE.
Other have left IFOCE or MLE in anger and just remained independent, like Tim Brown, Kevin Strahle, Dave Goldstein, and Takeru Kobayashi, and possibly Tim Janus and Brian Seiken. In fact, Kobayashi was in IFOCE and AICE at the same time in 2005, ranked number one in both organizations. I think he was also ranked number two in WLOCE , behind Dale Boone. Matt Stonie was also ranked simultaneously in MLE and WLOCE.
Some guy was kicked out of MLE for doing outside contests than miraculously let back in. I think it was Nate Biller????? One promising prospect to MLE even died during a swimming stunt (Patrick Vandam). And three people retired from MLE but then returned (Ron Koch and Carlene and Rich Lefevre).
Was Tom Gilbert (now with APE) ever in MLE?
anonymous said
May 10, 2017 @ 12:27 am
4:03: APE is a joke. They have gone from being a large organization running 20 contests a year to now just running one or two. People are finding out they cost too much and are not bringing anything noteworthy to the table. Take, for example, the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival, which decided to dump APE. Todd Greenwald is a jerk who stole APE from Arnie Chapman. There was a court case about this that was dismissed on a technicality. He tried to hide out and avoid service. He also doesn’t respond to emails, is a male sexist pig, and talks about his eaters behind their backs (I am not going to mention names, but I know who Todd has talked about).
anonymous said
May 10, 2017 @ 12:39 am
APE also does not know how to rank people and is second fiddle to MLE. They had Furious Pete as number one, then he lost to an unknown rookie eat named Will the Champ on a TV show. LOL. Then they had had Stephanie Torres (RIP) as number one, and she lost to an unknown amateur.
They also keep retired eater in their rankings to make themselves look bigger (right now have retired eaters Jamie McDonald, Ian Hickman, Tom Gilbert, Eric Dahl, Chris Abatsas, Mike Longo, Mike Hoffman, Ernie Clifton, Jay Gorman, and Joel Podelsky).
Todd struggles to put together a team that can beat pathetic Japan. Every year, Todd has a “secret weapon”, but every year they struggle, and win just barely. Erik Lamkin?? Yeah, right. He is a joke. You can’t do better than that? The US should be blowing out Japan every year. If Japan ever got Kobayashi, it would be over for Team USA.

Most of the independents ate with MLE including Molly at one time or another with the exception of Furious Pete who was blackballed because Tim Janus complained that he might steal the spotlight from him, Pete might not know this but it was Seiken who urged Rich Shea to get him aboard and Rich Shea responded to email ” What are you a lobbyist all of a sudden”?

12 27 wow just wow you mean you are willing to share this earth shattering info that Todd has talked about people behind their back? Get a grip dude The two faced crowd has been around since the caveman era. You think the Sheas don’t talk about their eaters behind their back? Arnie Chapman was a disgruntled loose canon with a chip on his shoulder . He also competed with MLE . When George Shea secretary Nancy Goldstein requested that Chapman sign a contract before he could compete in a matzah ball contest he exploded ripped up the contract and stormed out of the restaurant. The day of the matzahj ball finals he burst into Bens Deli like a maniac in 6 ft of snow with a ski cap and berated George Shea in front of his contestants calling him a fraud and comparing his organization to existence of human enslavement towards African Americans during the 18th century. The entire APE concept was based solely upon his dislike for the Sheas and their binding contractual agreement.

The only contest with MLE that I know Molly did was the 2013 St. Paul Nathan’s qualifier, which she won at 31 HDB over Pablo, Badlands, Steve Hendry, Craig Reed, and Matthew Raible. She was never part of their organization though.

He started running his mouth about how nobody from AICE beat him. Then he got beat by 2 AICE eaters and a local in ESPN 1250’s Wingbowl. It’s all about drama. Nothing more nothing less. Da Garbage Disposal should stay independent. So he can eat anywhere he wants and do whatever challenges he wants. Wasn’t this thread about that to begin with?

The bad mouth of Pete was Scuillo idea Seiken just went along for the ride at Scuillo request. It was designed to cause some drama and media attention . What ended up happening was Arnie Chapman saw the video and went completely berserk. He called MLE headquarters screaming at the top of his lungs demanding that they get rid of “Sicken” and Brad citing them as a detriment to competitive eating . I think he mentioned something about a lawsuit . Nothing came of it. Brad did eventually get thrown out a few months later after he won the canoli contest because they found out he was doing eating challenges on the side

Thanks 11:01. I didn’t know Chapman called. Not a classy thing to do. I don’t think Brad would have beat Pete. Publicity is publicity good or bad.. I do know when Brad lost he went into the bathroom after the wing bowl and starting calling people saying he was cheated.. But to his defense a little he was running late and literally sat down and the contest started less than a minute later. But none the less he lost and he wasn’t cheated. To many people have excuses when they lose. I lost by 1 or 2 bites before. Could’ve would’ve should’ve did this or that but didn’t.

Brad actually got thrown out of IFOCE because his 10 or 15 lb burger challenge was documented on Colbert show. He also wore a disguise in Bartolini meatball contest while under contract with the IFOCE Brad was hated by alot of people so its easy to finger a plethora of possible names who ratted him out to the Sheas about the challenge and the contest . They are completely oblivious to shit like that unless they get a heads up from a third party source email etc or it makes headlines in news . Like LA Beast , Brad would never be able to hold on to a ranking in any organization because the temptation is always there for either of them to engage in something that they think will bring them more exposure than MLE . LA Beast and Pete accomplished much more on their own than sticking to the guidelines of MLE. Nathans was the only reason either of them had any interest in competing in their organization

Beast got tossed from MLE because George Shea watched his butter eating stunt with Furious Pete and went ballistic when he saw both of them laughing and mocking Don Lermans record . To Shea that was the final curtain in which he considered the ultimate insult to the organization and the record itself

“George Shea is quoted:
“The question is this: Do you listen to Lady Gaga or The Who?†Shea asked. “The bottom line is that it’s a ‘Wall of Fame.’ None of the people you mentioned, plus Don ‘Moses’ Lerman, ‘Krazy’ Kevin Lipsitz or Ed ‘Cookie’ Jarvis, have fame anymore. The guys on that wall now have eclipsed all of them.—
Well, George Shea has no problem playing The Who whenever Joey Chestnut is introduced. I guess he must feel some people still listen to them or like them.

I was under the impression the Sheas read eatfeats regularly. They are also well aware of their members doing food challenges and other stunts.
After eatfeats posted a new MLE contest a few years which was not happening (though it was advertised as such the day before in a newspaper), the organizer got an angry call from the Sheas. She asked OJ in the comments here to remove the post after mentioning that in the comments. I can’t find that, but it’s on the site somewhere. That’s how I know the Sheas read this site.

Why is CLC’s mug plaster all over the 2017 Nathan’s Finals official program?

FBTSPod: Maybe! I have never heard you announce. Are you as good as the Sheas or Barclay?

6:18 Seiken’s name was purposely left out since I did not want to start anything between him and the Goldsteins. I did not want to mention old conflicts between him and Gavonne or Eater X. If I classified him as a heel or heel-turned (back stabber), he would be pissed.

I think I did a post here on a new Hall of Fame a few months ago, or maybe not. I forget. I wanted to include Seiken as a contributor, but there only so many open spots for the initial class (most spots went to actual eaters). I had the give the contributor nomination to the Shea brothers (despised as they may be), without which we would not have CE as it stands today. Next would be either Seiken or OJ Rifkin, for their role as journalists. Seiken may have been (or still be?) the enemy of multiple people, but I have to be neutral and realize the role and impact he had in the early days of the sport, as a journalist.

I think these should be the member of the initial class elected to the competitive eating HOF (modeling it after the Pro Football HOF):
Eaters (limit 5 – eligible 5 years after their retirement):
“Krazy†Kevin Lipsitz
Don Lerman
Ed Krache
“Hungry†Charles Hardy
Allen “Shredder†Goldstein
Veterans Committee (limit 2 – retired more than 25 years ago):
Frank Dellarosa
Thomas Stash
Contributors (limit 1 – can be nominated anytime):
George Shea

Seiken was to competitive eating what Moneymaker was to Poker He brought attention to the sport in a zany sort of way. Before eatfeats nobody really bothered reporting behind the scenes gossip and results the way Seiken did . You have to give him credit for that and he did win a pickle title to add to his legacy

12:21: Yes, it was Nate Biller who was kicked out, then returned to MLE:

Nate Biller did at least 3 non-MLE contests in 2013, got kicked out of the rankings, and was apparently welcomed back with open arms

I researched this Brian Seiken:
http://eatfeats.com/query.php?_table=eaters&id=35
And indeed, he won two different contests in his career, both in pickles.
In 2002 he won the United Pickle Eating Championship over Eric Booker, Charles Hardy, Kevin Lipsitz, and Ed Jarvis:

And in 2004, he won the IFOCE Title Rally – pickles against Kevin Lipsitz:

We have some new faces to eatfeats . Certainly a breath of fresh air . This site was at one time enjoyable to visit until it turned into a garbage disposal of personal attacks which were so vulgar and disgusting i actually thought it might lead to physical violence

How does this guy all of a sudden become a polished MC with MLE.? They do this rinky dink podcast and within a few months time he becomes a paid MC with MLE. Just doesn’t make sense? Curious as to how many events he has announced and what kind of money are the Sheas paying him? Either this guy is a secret buddy of the Sheas whom they have been secretly grooming for quite some time or he a fanatic ce groupie who sat in front of the mirror for years watching tapes of the Sheas and mimicking them because it appears he has all their pathetic moves down to a science

I think Mikey was decent, given his age. I think he should study Sam Barclay’s style to get better. Mikey paused too much and was not as dramatic and forceful/loud as Barclay. But I think he will get better in time. I think it was Rich Shea in Tampa, and he was only ok.

I have to revise my list above and re-classifty Carmen Cincotti as a heel. This is how he describes himself on his trading card:

“The self-proclaimed #1 bad boy of competitive eating”

Some yearn to be pro athletes Some yearn to be famous actors This guy yearned to look and sound like one of the Shea brothers. He seems to have all their movies down to a science or did he attend the Learn to be a Wannabe Shea seminar ?
How to be a Shea said
May 17, 2017 @ 12:43 pm
I believe in that seminar there are a classroom of wide eyed hopefuls dressed in the shea attire straw hat perspiration odor sport jacket which the students have to pay out of their own pocket to wear while George stands in front of a blackboard with a chalk and pointer instructing each and every one of them on how to be a successful MC . Included in the course are the stale one liners students are required to use from yesteryear ” Oh oh i just felt a knot in my chest i could be having a heart attack” “This man remembers what he ate for lunch on April 3, 1982 ” The crowd snickers not realizing its the same corny crap for the last 8yrs.
